Do DAB radios work in France?  What is the range of UK digital transmissions?

They started a few DAB radio channels in a few French cities in 2014 - no more coverage than that, and no chance of picking up UK radio on DAB.  I just listen to BBC radio on this I-pad via the Internet on free campsite wi-fi

Radio 5 on Medium wave, for a short distance but Radio 4 on Long wave is available at a much greater distance!

The internet and satellites are the only guaranteed options.

I find the radio stations dire in France.  Take an iPod with your own music / podcasts - much more enjoyable.

We took our DAB radio to France, and found it impossible to pick up programmes.

However, I don't agre about the dire nature of French radio - some are very good.  We particularly like the 'Bleu de ....... (fill in name of area - Perigord, Rousillon, Orleans, etc), RFM, Nostalgie, and others.  Some have more adverts than others.  Cherie
FM plays good music but has very irrating adverts.

I can't even get DAB radio to work in the uk let alone in France! We have it in the car and it gets BBC 2 & 4 and thats about it, unless you move the car then it goes off completely. Tried it a couple of times then reverted to FM.

Look up the advice FAQs section in www.ukdigitlradio.com for info about DAB in the uk and abroad.

If you have fitted an aftermarket radio then you'll need to fit a DAB aerial as the FM aerials are different.

Thanks for all your helpful replies. It looks like I won't be replacing the analog Radiomobile Radio/CD player in our van with anytrhing more exotic
