Some winter sun help please

me and my husband have just retired, and we would love to spend winter in the sun maybe andalucia spain could any help us, we are both pensioners and my husband loves a sandy beach could anybody help with a not to expensive site please

    Hi Richard and Lorraine - there are loads of sites in Spain which fit your bill - next to a beach, and very cheap (much cheaper than sites in this country).  If you go for long periods (say ninety days) you can get some exceptionally cheap deals.

    Another way of getting discounts, if you don't want to stay on one site for a long time, is to have a look at the ACSI Card website (click for link) where there are 224 sites to choose from at prices from 13 euros to 19 euros (£10.00 to £14.63) and some of those will give extra discounts such as 7 nights for 6, 14 nights for 11, and 30 nights for 21.  There are 39 sites in Andalucia - click on them individually and there may also be a link to the site's own website, where you can check prices and get more details.

    ACSI is also very useful for finding some of the sites which are open along your route - but there are others which are not in the ACSI scheme.

    If you see anything you fancy you'll need to order the card and guide - but it will expire on the 31st December and you'll need to buy another for 2017.  You can buy it on 'subscription' from ACSI at a good discount, or pay more and order it from the Caravan Club or Vicarious Books in Folkestone (on line).

    Like many other members of CT we have wintered in Spain for several years.   We used to go right down to the Costa de la Luz but it is a long way.  In more recent years we have gone to the Costa Calida/Costa Blanca area which has one of the best winter sunshine records in Spain and is 400 miles less driving from the French Med border than Western Andalucia.   
    If it is your first time, I personally would suggest you look at either this Club or the other Club's winter site programme.  You may find a site you like which is available at lower rates  through the Club rather than booking independently for a winter stay.   The beaches on the Costa de la Luz are fabulous and you can walk along them for miles but the area can be windy in the winter.  The Costa Blanca/Costa Calida has smaller beaches of good sand but none of them allow dogs on them.  Hope this helps.
