Hi,

We are thinking of trying Lake Maggiore next year, this would be our first time with the van in Italy.

Due to our jobs we have to go in August l was just wondering if anyone could recommend a site with good size pitches?

We would be traveling Hull to Rotterdam, some recommendations for overnight stops would be helpful too.

Regards,

Mrs Murdy.

Some years ago we stayed at
    Conca D'Oro
which is a nice campsite. Now we have a motorhome I think I would be looking for something.nearer to Stresa with easy access to the Islands.

All the sites around Maggiore have small pitches like most other popular locations in Italy. We go to Val Romantica in Connobio but unless you get lucky you will not get caravan plus awning plus car without quite a squeeze. 7 m square is regarded as a large
    pitch.

Agree with above re small pitches - we stayed at Camping Riviera at Cannobio which is, I believe, same owner as Romantica.  Site is on lakeside with a flat walk to village (no pool).  We put our motorhome diagonally on a corner pitch which was ok but a mite
cramped!  We also stayed at Camping Parisi which is in Baveno and is within walking distance of ferries to the Borromino islands.

    Hi,

Thank you for your advice and taking the time to reply.

From your replies and a little research l think we will leave taking the caravan to Italy until retirement where we may be able to expect a pitch of a more realistic size.

We really liked the look of Val Romantica and will bear it in mind when we retire.

    Once again thank you.

    Mrs Murdy.

We've been to Continental Camping which actually backs onto Lake Mergozza which I know strictly isn't what you were after but this site is large with good pool complex and a lovely beach onto the lake which is perfectly safe and actually reasonably warm
too, pitch sizes were medium I'd say. Google it you won't be disappointed especially if you have kids with you.
