Valencia distraction theft

We are staying on a site near SALER south of Valencia, there are a number of sites in the area. This week there have been, as far as we know, two fellow campers who have been robbed at small supermarkets. They parked their vehicle outside the shop, and on
returning are approached by a man who tells them their  tyre has been slashed. He appears to help but uses the confusion to cover his crime and then vanishes.  He seems to target ladies hand bags. So do not carry a bag if possible, and just use a small purse
to do your shopping. The local police were totally not interested.

    Timely reminder.

    Distraction thefts happen everywhere, quite common in central London and other major tourist centres where police tend to be active to clamp down on the criminals.  So I guess that criminals will venture to less touristy places to catch the unaware out.
