Yes, I would go to France, and will be doing so, but no, I wouldn't spend the whole two weeks at La Fleche, even though the campsite gets good reports.

La Fleche is somewhat north and west of the main area of flooding, and we had no problems on Wednesday, with floods once we'd gone west of Orleans about twenty miles. The Orleans area and to the east was the main area affected.   The river Loir (as distinct from the Loire) where La Fleche is situated is showing no flood alerts.

I would go.  Flood water in rivers and on saturated ground, disappears remarkably quickly in France and unless the area has been severaly affected and homes and businesses flooded (which it wasn't), you will probably see no effects left by the heavy rain.

There is no longer a problem anywhere in France with fuel, and we filled up without problems on the (free) autoroutes and at supermarkets on our way home from the Mediterranean.

    One new report says:

"Industrial action on the railways now appears to be running out of steam and strikes in the oil sector are also on the decline with two of Total’s five refineries in northern France being prepared to recommence operations."

Floods which are not in the area you are going are also receding.

I would go anyway but the news item reinforces it to be the right decision.

    Easy answer. GO.

I leave for France on the 19th. We are doing the Loire Valley then La Rochelle and up the West coast. I don't think the floods will be a problem for you and as far as the fuel is concerned, keep your tank full and get on with your Holiday.

I am in France at Tuffe near Le Mans and there are no floods, plenty of fuel and France looks like it is back to normal.  If anything we are too hot but it will be cooler at the weekend so come and enjoy yourselves.

Go, I'm off on Thursday morning to a site just south of Tours. If there are any issues,  then I'll reconsider my plans. Not ideal but all part of the fun of caravanning.

    Enjoy.
