The DTV signal is now common across Europe. You will be able to change the Region in Menu to France and  search for channels which will be French channels only. The same for Spain. In Catalonia we did pick up one channel which had the same programmes as Quest
in the the UK viz Wheeler Dealers,Salvage Hunters,Outback Truckerrs et al.Obviously you will sat system and a dish to have any chance of picking up UK stations.I leave mine at home now that  footprint has diminished.BBC IPlayer radio works on Continental site
WiFi but NOT the BBCTV Hope this helps.

A satellite dish and receiver, yes, but not necessarily Sky.

You will need a satellite dish of at least 85cms in diameter to stand a chance of getting UK TV as far as the South of France and even that will be borderline in the south. We have a roof mounted 85cms dish and we got UK programmes (BBC and ITV) as far south
as Carcassonne assuming you have a clear uninterupted view of the sky. Trees in the way will not get a signal. A freestanding dish should get the same results although I have to say that having an automatic dish saves a lot of time and frustration!!!

If you have sky at home, then just take your box with you. Buy a freestanding 85cm dish and stand with twin LMB, twin cables for £150. (or a roof mounted one for £1500 to safe time!!)
