Switzerland fuel

If you are coming  Switzerland make sure you fill up first. We drove from Basle to Lugano today and none of the motorway service areas had any diesel. We did manage to fill up at Porlezza near where we are staying so fuel may be generally available away from the motorways.

Sitting here in Croatia thinking glad I did not go to France. Now I'm not so cocky after your post on no fuel on my way back through Switzerland. Please don't tell me the Swiss get their fuel from France? No problem I'll plan a route  back through Poland
    and Scandinavia!!!!!

Can't hink why that would be.  I am sure you are correct but I do remember stopping at the first fuel station in Switzerland and it appeared that the diesel pumps were out of order as they seemed to have covers over the dispensers.  When the second service
station was the same I realised that actually they have a different style of pump and it looks a bit like the "out of service" covers they put on pumps in the UK.  Dumb I guess!

On a related topic, what's the position in France at the moment?  We are due to go to France at the end of June but are worried about the availability of fuel, especially on motorways. Oops just seen another thread about France. Sorry.
