Overnight stop in Belgium
Travelling on the Tunnel next week and if things don't improve with the French fuel crisis we will head to Italy via Belgium and Luxembourg. Having had problems with sites in Belgium previously, can anybody recommend an overnight stop two to three hours
from Calais either going via Brussels or via Lille/Mons/Namur? I am OK once I get past Namur but this is a bit to far for the first day.

Can recommend two stops which we have used a number of times, but one is only just over an hour from Calais, the other is just over 3 hours away - at the extreme end of your timescale.
The first is Camping Jeugdstadion at Ypres. There are dedicated motohome only pitches outside the main campsite. 12 Euros when we were there last year. Book on-line to be sure of a place as it's very popular. If reception is closed there is an automatic
check-in booth. [If any motorhomers are interested, this is open all year, even when main site is closed. Book on-line and use the automatic check in.]The other is a motorhome Aire in the middle of the attractive village of Han-Sur-Lesse. Plenty of spaces. Hook up. 7 Euros a night when we were there last year. Pay at the Tourist Information, if open. Otherwise someone comes around to collect the fee.
Many thanks.

La parc Clusure
is just over 3 hours from Calais.I am staying there myself in June in a mobile home. I visited the site in 2014 and I loved it! There is some train noise, but after a couple of hours I really did not notice it.

Thanks Hazel. It's an ACSI site which I had bookmarked. Might just be within range for first stop.

Hi Hichglitch
When I visited the site in 2014 it made me smile before I had even reached reception - its one of those sites which is really well looked after, with staff who care about their customers and go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. I cannot wait to go back and spend time there "on holiday" instead of working!
Hope you have a great trip

Hitchglitch,
HERE is my post it story from a campsite just along the coast into Belgium at Niewpoort. A bit closer than you really wanted but a very good site & one recommended by Deleted User User. We then left the next morning off via Brussells into Germany
heading for Croatia. Regards, Roy0 -
Don't know if this is too far off route

Its actually in France but the Belgium border is only five minutes away if you need fuel.

Actually I am fairly sure that we have stayed before. If I am right, it's a Dutch run site and very nice. I got told off for putting the van the wrong way around then for driving the wrong way around the one way system (well, that's the Dutch for you!).
We are still undecided because we really want to do Italy in September and this trip we planned to got South on the Autoroute via Reims and Lyon to Avignon. I may go down to Arras and if there is fuel we will carry on but if not we can divert into Belgium. I believe all the fuel depots are now open so maybe OK by Tuesday. I am guessing that Autoroutes get priority but not sure.
