Have a look at
THIS. The news is that around 1600 fuel stations are currently closed because of shortages. This map gives details of the worst hit areas.0 -
Afternoon Bob55
This website has details on where fuel is available and not available, but the situation is constantly changing.
From what I have read on other forums and other news articles the North West of France is the worst affected.
Will be very interested to hear from other members who are currenly in France. I will ask the community manager to make this thread a sticky.

I read on another forum about someone who lives in department 52, Champagne Ardennes, that today was the first time they saw a queue at the local petrol station, it seems to be moving east. There were no restrictions there apparently on quantity.

we came home on sunday from the loire via the tunnel, loads of petrol stations enroute were closed or had no diesel, we really struggled to find some, eventually managing to fill up at the intermarche at marquise just off the motorway south of calais, we
were running on fumes for far too long! On Sunday the locals were saying they had no idea when it was likley to end. The queues outside the stations that had fuel were incredible, 30, 40, 50 cars waiting.Hopefully it won't last too much longer, as the Madame at the campsite said 'it's France!'

Given that this is potentially a serious matter for members currently on holiday or about to go to France I will make this thread sticky until the problem is resolved to the point it is no longer affecting visitors to France.

I'm watching with interest but luckily not going till June 13th so hopefully all blown over by then but i'll certainly need to fill up once on the way down although i could run down the German side if need be.

Argghhhhhhhh this sucks big time so looking forward to our france trip this year we are on the Portsmouth to Caen ferry on Sunday afternoon, the plan was to finally make the trip down to Le Lavendou area in the south coast, looks like we might need to rethink
that idea, feeling totally gutted at the moment What is it with the French they are always out on strike about something.Stuart

I came across yesterday with a full tank. Many fuel stations are closed on the route caen, avranches, rennes, nantes. Those that have fuel have long queues often back onto the road. Some are limiting amount purchased. Instead of touring I have come to
the vendee near friends. Will see how it goes.0 -
We are currently heading south towards Millau,at present stopped a little north of Le Puy en Velay. We filledup today as we move on tomorrow, there were no queues here. I think this area is not yet affected.
We were going to head to Brittany/Normandy on our way back to Dunkirk, but now reconsidering that in light of the problems.

We're booked on the ferry to Caen, 5th June. Hopefully, it will be sorted by then, but who knows?
Our plan was to meander down to the Camargue, but will have to get the maps out and make a "Plan B", just in case.
We're retired, so our plans are flexible, but awful for people who've booked for a couple of weeks, and maybe have sites etc booked too.

Hi we are just west of Puy de Dome at present and there were queues yesterday at local Carrefour and we did not know until later in the evening but went to same garage today no queues and filled up no problems we leave here on Friday and go back to the Lot
. The areas affected the most seemed to be northwest France.0 -
Crossing to Caen Monday 30th (hopefully) en route Italy currently intending to go east on the A29 with full tank to Belgium then run down through Germany to Innsbruck. Original plan was Paris/ Mont Blanc Tunnel into Italy. I have`nt seen any reports
of the other great French pastime blocking the autoroutes?0 -
If it's the same in a week we will be turning left after the tunnel and going through Belgium to Italy rather than straight on to France! This happened a few years back and we were on tenterhooks wondering whether we would get fuel.

We are set to go to the outskirts of Paris on Saturday for seven days.
Really don't know what to do. Our site is booked through the caravan Club so will call them tomorrow for advice, don't want to spend the week worrying about getting fuel.

Fill up in Dover and it should get you there comfortably then take advice locally on what garages have fuel.

Oh no.....just opened up after the IT issues had closed CT down only to find this......
we are booked for to go to Dordogne for 3 weeks leaving Blighty mid June........can only hope whatever the issue is is resolved by then. There has been nothing that I have seen on the UK news about this - so it comes as a complete surprise.
good luck to anyone caught up in this now. Also be interested to hear feedback from anyone who has sites booked via the Club who might have to cancel......

Members need some information and advice from the CC about what appears to be a worsening situation. The fuel shortage, it seems, is not confined to the north and north west of France. Motorists are queuing at many filling stations and there are plenty
without diesel. Now it is likely there is a general strike on Thursday and a hint that ports might be affected. See
www.driveeuropenews.com for best advice. For those of us who were planning to travel over in the next few days, can we have some guidance? A full tank leaving Dover and a 10 litre jerry can still ain't going to take me and the caravan that far. How do we stand with cancellation of Eurotunnel, ferries,
booked sites, travel insurance etc? An up-to-date response from the CC would help! Our option is to change our destination from the Dordogne to Austria or the Italian Lakes and so travel through countries where there is fuel.

I've just spoken to my insurance company and we're not covered for this situation so if we decided to cancel there are no grounds for a claim. Obviously other companies may have a different stance on this so check your own policy details. Euro tunnel allow
you to alter your booking up to 24 hours after the planned crossing and to rebook for a crossing up to one year after the date of the original booking, note NOT the crossing date. We booked last November directly with Eurotunnel as we use Tesco vouchers so
would have to use the booking by early November. I don't know what the situation would be if the booking was made through the club. We're obviously hoping that the dispute will be resolved by next week, but if it isn't our current thinking is to go up into Belgium then Luxembourg and either Germany or Denmark.
Good luck to anyone caught in the middle of this.
