Hi,

Driving solo in Italy for the first time this year.

l was wondering if it's advisable to purchase a Telepass card for ease and speed on Italian motorways?  I have never regretted investing in my Sanef tag for France.

Research shows you can purchase a tempory card for £3.75.

Regards,

Murdy.

One of the advantages of Italian motorways is that you only have to pay on exit rather than like in France where you can pay by section. Having said that I would have thought that the modest extra cost would be worth it if you were travelling solo.

We have an Italian Telepass tag through Tolltickets but there's an annual rental attached to it. Make sure its not just the card that goes with the tag you're getting for £3.75.

The tag is worth its weight in gold (well, almost!) but its not very economic if its a one-off trip.

    Hi D.K and Dave,

    Thankyou for your replys.

Sorry to confuse you D.K. When l said solo l meant without the caravan...not without the wife!!

Still researching but from what l understand you rent the tag for a 21 day period; so in addition to the rental cost of £3.75 you then have two lots of postage, but still seems reasnoble for the convenience of using the Telepass lane.  We are travelling
    in August!

I will continue to do my homework, it all seems a bit good to be true!

This will be a trial run as after thirty years of going to France with the caravan we may take it to Italy next year; who knows?

    Cheers,

    Murdy.
