Pont Aven

Just to let you know that we were booked to travel from Plymouth to Santander this Sunday 15th. Unfortunately the Pont Aven has problems with her propeller and is at present in dock at Brest. The next sailing to Santander is Sunday 22nd which is full so
we would have to wait until Sunday 29th ( yes  quite!)  Sailings from Portsmouth are also full. We booked through the CC and they have been brilliant. They informed us straight away and despite B F phones being swamped did manage to get through and have kept
us informed. After a sleepless night we decided are only option was to travel Plymouth to Roscoff ( we live in Cornwall) and then drive through France  which we have done before. Again the CC were on the case first thing and managed to get us on the Sunday
night boat with free cabin upgrade. Although this is now going to entail more driving BF have given us good compensation so we are not too disappointed These things happen but fortunately we do not have any time constraints.

Hi we have been hearing of ferries being cancelled from folk travelling down from France. Someone on site here (Spain) who full times, had his sailing cancelled last week and had to drive down from Caen, not a happy chappie as he had left his dogs in kennels
here. As you say these things happen, nice of you to let us know as I would think this will have a knock on effect to all ferries. By the way you are not missing much, the weather isn't great, its been raining for about a week now and the temp is around 15c
during the day and colder at night, heating is on most of the time.

Yes, looking at BF website they plot up to date positions of all their ferries. Obviously the return from Santander on Wednesday evening was cancelled but the Cap Finistere called in, then spent the night and morning tooing and froing just offshore then
returned to port, presumably to pickup stranded passengers . A logistical nightmare!

Looking at Brittany Ferries sailings updates the ferries to & from France next week are disrupted by a French national strike on Tuesday

we were scheduled to go on the night crossing to Santander last Tuesday (!0th May). As we were driving down to Rookesbury Park on Monday the Club phoned us to say the crossing was cancelled. All credit to the ladies of the Travel Service, they could offer
Bilbao on Sunday 15th arr Tuesday, Santander about a week later or overnight Tuesday 10th  to Caen. We took this option and we are now down at Urrugne. Weather not sparkling at present in France, heavy rain for the last day or two.

We are booked to travel on the Pont Aven on............26th May! We are glad we know about the problems but hope that the info on the BF website is accurate as that suggest she will return to service after 19th May as this is the last cancelled sailing listed-at
the moment. We are booked through the club so will keep an eye on things, in the hope that we don't need to change our plans, but now forewarned.

If the repairs go to plan you will be OK. First scheduled Pont Aven sailing is Plymouth to Roscoff at 2045 on 26 th May. Bon Voyage.

But anyone with an earlier Pont Aven reservation needs to re think or re book on to another of their ships.

As of late yesterday BF website sailing updates amended and show what ET has said that first sailing will be 26th May.

Club have said to keep an eye on BF website as that should be more up to date but ET info was more accurate!
