Can anyone suggest some quiet sites to use for touring this area?  Just me and 2 dogs in need of battery recharging after a very stressful start to the year!  Beaches possibly - I have the ACSI book but it's nice to know what people on CT might choose.  I
also have the Municipal steps website.  I am starting in Central Brittany once I am satisfied my recovering brother has the care he needs.  Probably making my way to Dieppe for the return crossing.  Thank you.

Try Camping Haliotis at Pontorson near Mont San Michel nice site, not sure if it will be quiet though, depends on time of season.

Thank you both useful indeed.  I haven't escaped yet but won't be long before I throw in the towel here!  As a solo camper bars aren't a lot of use to me but shopping is good.  I have done the Normandy beaches some years ago and while I will never forget
I prefer happier places now.  I am not sure what holidays are coming up but Ascension day tripped us up and SIL  is a resident and a Catholic!  But I definitely can't be a whipping boy until the summer holiday busy time!

There's a nice site at Etreham on the penninsula and a lovely CL called Camping Le Boterff in the centre of Brittany at St Mayeux near Mur de Bretagne which gives access to all 3 coasts in hour and half.

A small (20 pitches) municipal at Valognes. We stayed here a few years ago. Not too far from the coast. A quiet site, mainly Brits when we were there. Some people use it as a last night stop before the Cherbourg ferry. Two supermarkets not far from site.
    Easy walk into town.

We used the Valognes site on our first French caravanning trip 15 years or so ago after our Marauder suffered a tyre blowout - fortunately at a filling station. In those days I had no idea of tyre ages etc.

As I remember it was a lovely little site and we were fortunate to be there for the next day's weekly market. There was a good restaurant close by as well.

I think the guardian came round in the morning to collect the (very small) fee for the site.
