How many on your site
Just got back from the "bread walk" with the dogs and noticed just how varied this site is. There are motorhomes and caravans with the following country reg plates: A,B,D,F,NL,I,PL,CZ,HK,CH,DK,SLO,SK,H,RO and of course our GB. There are 1496 pitches here
but only one GB......great!!!!!
Difficult site to get around as there are no signs (exept for the Loo's) or colour coded pegs to "help" you, but guess what everyone seems to know what to do without them!!

That's a big site!
On our local campsite, last Thursday, there were just four outfits, all of them French! We weren't caravanning, just dropping in for the pizza evening, along with other locals who as a party of six nearly matched the number of people on site!.

A site with 1496 pitches is something I have never seen in the 54 years I have travelled in Europe. Where on earth is that?

We've been to Croatia about 6 or 7 years ago and also experienced very big sites there. But somehow it doesn't feel like you're on a big site, as there are individual areas. Don't think about it as one huge site on the CC model, all regimented, far from
it!We normally run a mile from huge sites, but must admit that it sounds worse than it is in reality. We enjoyed our time there.

We arrived at Camping Os Anjos in the Alto Alentejo, Portugal yesterday its a 30 pitch site, at the moment there are 7 units here, and it's raining !

I don't care how big the site is, it's how few vans are on it. We are at Beaulieu sur Dordogne, big site but only maybe two dozen vans and that is probably busier than usual as there is a strawberry festival here this weekend. Last night there were six vans on the site we were on.0 -
At 5mph, it must take half a morning to get off site.

Don't write off Croatia! Some mini camps are like CLs. Our favourite site at Cres is 1,000 plus pitches; however, by September only the pitches nearest the sea are occupied by couple of hundred units. They keep all the shower blocks and toilets open until the site closes in mid October.

Croatia has many big sites, but many small sites too. Just like anywhere else in fact. We are at Autocamp Peros at Zaton, a lovely little site said to hold 61, but oth times we have been here there could not have been more than 20. Nice little bar, small
pool, short walk to the sea and immaculate facilities. Next door is Zaton Holiday Resort with 1200 pitches as well as cabins and apartments.Another of our favourites is Slapic at Duga Resa with only 100 pitches.

We're at Les Peneyrals near Sarlat in the Dordogne. It's a big site with lovely facilities - all open. We're the only Brits, the owner commented that at the moment he has more staff than campers and I'm not sure that he was joking - it;s very quiet.

The site only has a few touring vans at the moment as the weather has turned realy bad, Most have moved on south towards Split to find better weather. Problem is the weather here is slowly improving and the thunder storms have moved south!! Other problem
with improving weather is Bavarian school holidays start this weekend and 800 outfits expected, yes 800 over two days. Good time NOT to head south out of Germany. Time to walk the dogs in the rain.0 -

We are on site at Don Quijote in Salamanca, 83 pitches probably a third full, though it varies day to day. Been raining on and off for the last few days so a bit wet under foot, forecast for the end of the week is good

to go from here.How about dropping down to Camping Monfrague outside Plascencia and have a day Vulture watching in the National Park. Just 10 miles down the road from the campsite there is a colony of 80-100 pairs nesting in view of the road.or take a guided tour from the
site.Might stop on the way to Caceres for awhile, can't seem to get any enthusiasm of what to do, weather is still bad here, but its the same where ever at the moment. Did think about going across from Caceres to Badajoz, but can't find a site near enough to
pay it a visit
we then thought we would head across to Porto but neither of us is sure we want to.0 -

Rain can't be a problem in other parts of Europe, as all the rain seems to be falling here (Rovinj). Realy started at 2359hrs on Thur 12th and has just stoped an hour ago 0735hrs Sat 14th. That's what you call Fri 13th!!!! Some people on site are going to be charged extra, as they now have water front pitches. Croatian tourist board say that sun is coming, but no time scale.
