we are trying the Brittany ferries economies ferry route this summer and wondered what your experiences have been, we have booked an outward overnight cabin and return with day cabin.we usually go Portsmouth/ Caen  but never use all the ferries facilities
onboard.

    There are two ships on that route. The word on the street from Brittany Ferries aficionados is that the ship going out on Thursdays and returning on Fridays (called Baie de Seine) is the better one of the two.

    We have travelled the route for the last three years , we have only ever been on the eterat , the cabins are larger and more modern than the Caen routes , it had everything you need on board, same menu in the self service , there is also a massive outdoor  deck at the back of the boat,  full of recliners, if you get the weather , it's fab .  The car deck is huge being a trucking route, we have found there is always loads of space around you. We were really impressed with the service, it's a good price, not as crowded and gets you there , have fun !

    Yes I agree with Emily and Beccas Mum. The food was good, the accomodation great, and it is good to arrive refreshed. The first time we just used the cabin on the return journey but this year it will be both ways.

    We've used it twice, it's OK, that's all. Depends on what you want, really. There's a self service restaurant, the food is fine and good value. There isn't a bar area, coffee shop, waiter service restaurant, entertainment for children or adults, "duty free"
    shop or lounge area though. I'd say fine for an overnight crossing, when you're going to be asleep most of the time anyway, for a day crossing, I wouldn't choose it again.

    We used it last year to come back from France, using the Etretat, choosing a pet friendly cabin as we had our cat with us.  We thought it was fine - our cabin was comfortable, the shower adequate, and bar/breakfast prices not too bad. However, our friend
    who chose not to book a cabin, but a reclining seat, found it very cold during the night, and very noisy.

    Thanks for the info , it's good to know what to expect. We have booked cabins both ways and don't normally use all facilities on a ferry anyway so I am sure it will be fine for us.
