Parking at Portsmouth

We are sailing on the 08.15 from Portsmouth ( in early June) and are looking to set off, from Humberside, early evening and arrive at Portsmouth around midnight. We find travelling at this time of day tends to avoid the traffic and frequently sleep at Sevice
Stations. However we were wondering if it is possible, and safe, to park at the port for the rest of the night and sleep in the van? This will have us there ready for the sailing without having to move in the morning.

Yes, and by arriving at midnight you will be after the three evening ferries have left. So line up at the check ins for your own ferry, but no facilities are open overnight.

Never had a problem at Portsmouth as long as you arrive after last arrival/departure of the day. Staff seem helpful and happy but facilities proberbly not open.
