Delayed returning and Pet Passports?
does anyone know what happens if the vet check expires? I was set to come home yesterday but the ferry didn't leave. Then my brother was admitted to hospital in middle of night so now due to sail on Saturday. I guess I will have to worm them again? Not
ideal but probably can't do much harm!? Nice vet might under dose a little perhaps!

Hi Pippah45
Sorry I don't know what will happen. The staff at the port in France will just want to see that your dog has been treated for tapeworm between 1-5 days before you land back in the UK. I assume two tapeworm treatments will not harm a dog? (Does anyone know?
Any vets on the forum?)Is there a vet in France you can check with? Or can you contact your vet in the UK to ask?
Sorry I can't help. Hope you have a good trip back on Saturday.

Thanks for trying Hazel I wonder if I can get the second vets bill off Britany Ferries! Ha Ha. Yes I am sure the lovely vet here will be able to sort it out for me it just seemed easier at the time to ask if it had happened to anyone else.

Hi Pippa
It is not a question I have had before, but there is a bit of time before Saturday, maybe someone else has had the same issue and they will see this thread!
Can you come back and update us with what you had to do? Just in case the subject comes up again?
Many thanks and good luck

Yes I would be interested in knowing what happens as I had asked the same thing. We are currently in Spain and wondered what happened if the return ferry was cancelled when we had already had the dogs wormed prior to leaving. I dont like giving them chemicals
at the best of times, so worried about double dosing, but I suppose you just have to have it done again!0 -
I asked Defra this question a few years ago and the answer is obvious really. If your dog has been wormed more than 120 hours before your scheduled time of arrival in the UK you have to get the dog wormed again. That's the rule, the dog has to be wormed
not less than 24 and not more than 120 hours before your scheduled arrival time. The worming time is checked at the port of departure, so if the ferry is delayed en route once you've boarded you should be ok, but if you turn up and the dog is out of time
they'll not let you board until you get Fido wormed again. These wormers have a high margin of safety so your dog is unlikely to be adversely affected.

Thanks Geejay it is what I thought but with so much time spent in the hospital I hadn't got round to asking the vet. I will never come away without a functional EU mobile again! SIL booking vet for Friday morning to sail Saturday pm! My pooches will have
to be fine!0 -
I promised to get back after the vet visit to update the passports and I am hugely impressed. A different lady vet to last two visits, one for minor dog mishap and one for passport for the crossing that didn't happen. NO Charge! And she still did a heart
and general health check. So I would like to recommend SCP Groupe Veterinaires des 2 Vallees in Guemene sur Scorffe! Someone posted a list of Brit approved vets if I can find it I will add them there too. Their first check was €52 I think so reasonable
for 2 big dogs.0 -
Morning Pippa
Thank you very much for posting your update. Great news that the vet did not charge! (more money for wine???
)I assume that the vet gave a 2nd set of treatment? And there are no adverse affects for your dogs if they have two lots of treament in a space of a week?

Hi lornacaravan
Your dog will need to be treated between 1 and 5 days before you return back to the UK.
I normally suggest that members contact the campsite where they are staying before returning home as they will often suggest a vet and in some cases make the appoitment for you.
Further information is on our website
