i turned up quite early for the 3 pm sailing today.  Normal number of people hanging around.  I asked some gendarmes if I had to check the dogs in at the main terminal or at vehicle gate.  Gate was fine I was assured.  Settled down to picnic lunch when a Brit couple turned up and kindly asked if I had received the latest text.  It had arrived after I set off and I hadn't seen it but the gist was a 3 hour delay.  Still just about acceptable to arrive at 10 pm ish and make a 9am meeting.  So it was too hot to hang around for 3 hours with 2 dogs so I found a lovely beach nearby and chilled out.  Returned to main terminal to use the Loo to find a Lot of people milling around but departure board still saying 6pm.  NOT so now sailing in 24 hours but passengers welcome to sleep on board providing they vacate the cabins at 8am. Dogs must sleep on th Quay in the car!!!  I duly changed my ticket and explained I couldnt take up the cabin offer and so returned the 2 hours to my brothers place.  Not a happy bunny as many passengers!  Why hadn't they sent out messagEs for the 24 hour delay etc etc.  Shocking indeed.  Incidentally I will have to take the dogs to be checked at the passenger terminal which is not easy.  Parking total chaos due to some yachting event taking place For the next week or more.  Beware!

I understand there has been another incident on one of the longest crossings so I hope that's 3 mishaps in a row accounted for!

Pippah, we just got off the Portsmouth to Santander ferry tonight,  it was 1 hour late in docking which we knew it would be before we even sailed. The problem was at Portsmouth,  a delay in the refueling.  We should have been even later but they made up
some of the time on crossing, seas were ok. Hope you get away ok.

We take the same crossing but have never had any problems like this. Most people have Phones and perhaps they could of text people who was on that crossing . Like you we have dogs and would not of been happy to leave them for so long. perhaps Brittania Ferries
need to look at how they can minimise the confusion if this happens again.
