Calais

Came through Calais this morning. Lots of new security fencing and razor wire but no cause for any alarm. Every thing was as slick and efficient as ever.

Dover was also very easy with no problems caused by roadworks

Thanks for the update Dunclair.  Were you ferry or tunnel?

We used the tunnel out and back on the 6th April (day trip) and saw nothing - even though we drove along the coast road and through village of Sangatte. Had door handles and steering wheel swabbed both ways though.

Pleased that you were OK on the tunnel Paul.  We're doing tunnel at the end on June.

We did the Dover/Calais route in late March and had no problems whatsoever, except that we noticed increased security at both ports - with dog teams checking out vehicles on the French side and as has been said, more wire fences and more police presence
along the first sections of the autoroutes.

We too used the tunnel to Calais last Saturday and endorse the comments above. We also passed through the border crossings between France and Switzerland, Switzerland and Austria, Austria and Italy (Brenner Pass) and I can confirm there were no delays at
all at any of the borders in either direction. I hope this allays any fears some of you may have about the current situation.

Thanks Dave, in just over a week we will be using the tunnel and crossing the borders of France, Italy, Slovenia, Austria and Germany. Whilst not too worried its good to know there is no long delays at the moment.

    Afternoon Dave Happy

Thank you very much, that is really helpful!

I am getting the occasional enquiry from members asking about border crossings, so your feedback is really good to have.

DaveFL2, it would be great if you can feedback as well?

Hope you all have a great week-end!

    Hazel

we took the Calais/Dover ferry for our easter trip.

so we decided to take our stopover on a campside 30 km outside of Calais. The fencing at ferry terminal looks a little bit like the border we had in Germany in the past... Our caravan was inspected by border patrol, so it took just a little more time to
    check in.

No problems coming through Calais and Tunnel last Tuesday.

Only Border Post we went through en route to Bitburg was on the Belgium/German Border the latter side.  There were about 50 Armed Police searching cars.  They waved us straight through.  This is due to the recent Belgium Bombings.

This was at the old Border Post near to St Vith on the A27/E42 and A60/E42

When travelling to Bitburg last year we encountered the same, they were stopping vehicles, we were also waved through when we got to the front of the queue.

Just did quick day trip yesterday with p&o to France mainly to calm the nerves of the O/H regards the migrant situation for our trip later on in year, no sign of any migrants other than the camp which is north of the port road, defiantly nothing to worry
about, plenty of police presence along the port road,
