Brittany Ferries muzzling dogs?

my SIL just pointed out the small print on my ticket.  Roscoff / Plymouth requires muzzling of dogs when not in car.  Last time I did this route dogs were required to go into the main terminal for the passport checks,  does that mean they have to be muzzled
then.  I think I have one muzzle with me but not 2? Neither need muzzles so do I ignore the small print?

When we went Plymouth-Santander they wanted the dogs muzzled from car to cabin but thereafter all was OK without.

I think the answer is, take muzzles just in case you're challenged but don't put them on until/unless.

We are doing Portsmouth to Saint Malo, but apparently the dogs stay in the car so no need to muzzle them  Same applies on the way back.

If you book a kennel on the ferry for your dogs, technically Brittany Ferries say they should be muzzled for the transfer from car to kennel.  We find this  is not always enforced.  However, if you get a 'jobs worth' you may find you need them.  I think
we have only had to muzzle ours twice before and we travel several times a year between France the the UK.

We did Portsmouth to St Malo last year with 3 dogs. as per Brittany ferry rules we had our 3 muzzled when taking to the kennels etc. ( it took months to train all 3 not to try and pull them off)

When we got on the ferry our 3 were the only 3 with muzzles which made them look as tho we had 3 devil dogs.

On our return we never used them and this year we are going via tunnel.

To be on the safe side you should carry muzzles even if not used, just in case!!!
