Another European breakdown membership quandary

We are trying to decide which is the best breakdown cover for ourselves for the next 12 months and in particular our forthcoming trip to France/Spain of around 60 days. We are currently insured with Mayday but this will expire whilst we are away in
France. We already have Worldwide travel insurance so I am only looking at vehicle breakdown insurance.

We currently pay £126 with Mayday and the Red pennant quote for a single trip is £196 giving a total of £322.

We are also members of the CCC and have got a online quote for break down in the UK and Europe of £206.73 total using their RAC Arrival. The only difference I can see between the two polices is the CCC quote does not at present include repair/breakdown
at our home but I am sure that can be added for a nominal amount.

So my question is .......

Why the massive difference especially when the CCC quote appears to be multi trip . Can anyone find fault with the CCC as surely they understand what caravanners require.

Do you need the Mayday Premium cover (which I assume you have) the cover that probably equates to CCC is £70. I have not used the RAC but have read some unflattering reviews. The main reason I stick with RP is in the hope that in the event of a problem I
will get help and not just a breakdown truck dispatched, some members have given some very good reports on the service , no doubt someone will come on to refute that! Like any insurance its not until you make the phone call you really find out if you made
the right choice, hopefully you will get plenty of opinions which I shall also read with interest.

Natasher, there are a few threads running at the moment about RP, it is a good policy but can be expensive when coupled with Mayday. It does however cover cars/caravans very well and when called upon for assistance they are spot on. We had to use them twice
last year once in Belgium and once on the way to the ferry in the UK.

We however have gone with Green Flag Euro + for our forthcoming trip this year as the club do not cover the trailer or trike that we carry on it.

I have spent a long time looking at differant companies who all claim to do this or that, be very careful that you ask all the right questions, don't forget that with RP you have a choice of Breakdown only, or you can add personal medical cover to that.

Try Green Flag they are a lot cheaper but the service is very very good.

They brought me back from Italy a few years ago, all the way to Accrington.

    I am still with them.
