Do some of you out there often use Le Guide Offciel when in France?  We have used exclusivley ACSI for the last few years but are keen to find more municipal sites and sites with less than 25 pitches, i.e quiet.  Any comments apprciated.

Personally I find enough of them in the Club's own site guides- I like the idiosyncratic comments there.  I am still using an old copy from the days when it was called Caravan Europe and hope the new version called Touring France (and its siblings for other
countries) haven't  been pruned of those sorts of sites.

I haven't towed in France for many years but the aforesaid book was invaluable.

We use Le Guide Officiel - and find it easier to find sites than in the new version of 'Caravan Club Europe'.

There are 10,500 or more sites in Le Guide Officiel - about twice as many as the Caravan Club guide.

We tried to use the Guide Officiel one year but for our first night's stop the first two sites we tried were closed and appeared to have been so for some time. The third was - shall we say - basic, being almost derelict, but did have a friendly couple living
on site who found us a pitch.

Like eurortraveller we're still using an oldish copy of the CC guide as we don't like the new format. But we may try the Guide Officiel again.

I always take the Guide Officiel with me - it covers everything and also has some very useful sections on towns with big carparks!

We have the Club's Europe guide.  Its about 5 years old but we still find it an invaluable tool.

We didn't know this existed. Tips on how to get it would be most appreciated. Is it download-able or do we have to order a book? Thanks n advance

You can buy the book from Amazon but www.campingfrance.com has probably the same information.

If you wait till you get to France it's widely available in supermarkets, newsagents etc.

The Guide Officiel is our first port of call, then ACSI/Camping Cheque.

We have both the book and the website on the laptop as a favourite

We take Le Guide Officiel as well as the CC guide and ACSI; between them they always deliver!

Le Guide Officiel was bought in a French supermarket.
