European Volvo assist does score above Landrover assist, the Volvo one will repatriate caravan and even your pet whereas Landrover will tow your caravan to a 'place' near to a dealer and not repatriate the caravan nor your pet.

Hence why I take out Red Pennant.

The following is in the Volvo Assist handbook:

"Please note: Immobilisation of caravans and trailers are also covered but only when being towed by your vehicle. The caravan or trailer will be recovered along with your vehicle."

I would think this gives some level of cover.

It covers up to 90 days per trip in Europe.

I guess you only find out how good it is when you have to use it.....like all insurances.

Ian, I think share your frustration /resignation (?) and agree with your final statement as it has been proved on at least one other thread that even RP has tiny things hidden away or not mentioned (because no one can think of all the possibilities) that are waiting to trap purchasers. Whilst it may cover more it's not a panacea.

All very disappointing, you just have to do what you can to try to compensate for the level of risk you are comfortable with.

I think we are pretty capable, having two drivers, quite a bit of technical expertise, are luckily quite fit and able to work on minor problems, we just want the cover to help us out in any dangerous or extreme situations and to be helped to get ourselves and our outfit home.

i recently asked about LV european cover, alas it doesnt give the level of cover required to be safe, on ward journey is to only one place so they would take van and car to site, then you would be left to get the car to garage if the car couldnt be fixed
then LV would not recover you again so basically the insurance is worthless unless you want to return home, i wonder how many other hidden  clauses are on similar polices regarding onwards journey ect.

You’ve jumped into an 8 year old thread and I doubt you’ll find the answer here. It’s better to be a bit more explicit about what you want and, if that’s your reg no, I suggest you edit it out if the edit box is still open. Have you tried the usual insurance providers?

Three single trip policies for you to consider - Red Pennant motoring cover, Eurobreakdown, and insurance from Eurotunnel if you are travelling across the channel with them. All three will include caravan breakdown as well as car breakdown.
