Shopmobility in France

Does France have a similar system to the UK where you can hire a mobility scooter in the larger towns or even hire a scooter for the duration of your stay if you are located at one camp site?  We can take mine along, but it takes up a fair amount of room
in the back of the vehicle.

Also do they have a Radar type key for disabled toilets and what do you have to do to access disabled facilities?  I assume my BB can be used throughout France without issues unlike here where some councils charge and others do not.

We're in France at the moment, and from experience most disabled toilets do have a radar type key, but are generally left open anyway.

When we next go down to the shopping 'mall' I'll have a look, and will also ask French friends about this and about the general availability of mobility scooters.

You can use your blue badge in the same way you do in England, and you'll generally find there are more disabled parking bays both at supermarkets and in towns and villages.

We take my own collapsible mobility scooter so have never looked very closely - however my OH reckons they are a bit of a novelty outside big towns and has never seen them to borrow in Hypermarkets or local s'markets.. In Nancy we could take the scooter
on the local bus, something that could change if scooters become as popular as here.  Loos as Val says.  We translated as many docs as we thought useful, Blue badges seem to be the same and parking spaces are good.
