Want to clarify whether or not I need a square red and white board?  Thanks in advance of any advice.

I think it is only mandatory in Italy (where it must be made of metal, not plastic) and Spain, maybe Portugal as well? I suppose it might be worth saying that anything that increases the visibility of something projecting from the rear of a vehicle is a
good idea. They are pretty inexpensive.

I always thought it was compulsory in France but DK may be correct. However we always carry one and as the Fiamma cycle cover has a purpose made pocket for one it is no bother to slide the flexy  board into it; it keeps the Gendarmerie off your back if nothing
    else.

We only put ours on for Italy as we don't visit Spain.

As David suggests I believe only Spain/Portugal and Italy require them.

Plenty of facts on the motorhome forums.

Also the rearward projection in Portugal is limited, I think to 50cm, which means some may easily exceed that. I think the details can be found in the Club info. Regards Roy
