Does anyone know whether the German Tourist Offices provide free Wi-Fi in the same way as those in France do?

    Good morning Wherenext

I have e-mailed my good friend Vaughn at the German Tourist Board in the UK, and will post again when I hear back from him.

    Morning all

I have received the following reply from Vaughn at the German Tourist Board:

For people seeking free WIFI in Germany we have a dedicated app for Android and Apple phone users, the app is called “Germany YouthSpot”  please see here

Although initially designed for young people the app is very good for any age and for finding local attractions, events, shops, bars and cafes.

There are over 1300 free access Wi-Fi spots listed on the App.

Hazel, Would that be a Yes or a No then?

We don't do Apple or Android!

Some German Tourist Offices have a fixed desktop computer which is available for members of the public to use but, of course, not really suitable for anything which requires a high level of security like internet banking etc.

It's basically up to each and every tourist office to decide whether it wants to offer such a service. Some do, some don't. However, I've never been at a loss to get a free WiFi connection anywhere in Germany. Many large supermarket chains, restaurants,
department stores, autobahn service areas, for example, have free WiFi faclitities,
