Channel tunnel check in
Morning we are completing our second trip to France after a sucessfull first tour last year. I am travelling to Burgundy in early June using the channel tunnel. We have an over night stop at bearstead CC site Maidstone after travelling down from Yorkshire and a departure on the 0820 crossing. It says on the booking latest checkin at 0750 but realistically how much time should I allow we will are taking the dog for the first time. I intended departing Bearstead at 0700 at the latest to complete the last 28 miles to the tunnel.

Hi We've travelled a couple of times on the tunnel with our dogs. You don't actually have to do anything with them on the way out so don't need to allow any extra time for them (other than a toilet stop!). It's on the way back that you have to take them
to the pet area - you take them into the building where the microchips are scanned (you have to do this yourself so make sure you know where they are!) and their passports are checked. You are then given a card to put in front of your window which shows
you have dogs on board. We've never had to queue here and it's hasn't taken longer than 10 minutes (for three dogs). Have a fabulous time0 -
Thats good to know, looking forward to it especially taking the dogs I didn't want to leave myself short with time at the terminal.

Just double check that you will be able to leave that early from Bearstead. We have used Bearstead on both legs of the journey, its a fairly easy journey to the Tunnel and all motorway, about 25 miles. Eurotunnel are fairly relaxed about timing providing
you arrive two hours either side of your booking time.David

I've just spoken to Bearstead and thery say there is no issue leaving 6:30 to 7 am. I'll just have to be as quiet as I can.

At the risk of overstating the obvious - don't forget that you will need the pass to get out of the site when you leave, so don't try to save time by handing it the the previous evening. We left early on Sunday morning last year and there was no problem
whatsoever.0 -
We have always stopped at Black Horse Farm where they have dedicated Fery Pitches, I have found Bearsted a little on yje noisy side due to the M20 quite clese

Hi Admiral, I did look at Black Horse but it is so much simpler jumping back on to the M20 from Bearstead. Its only one night so the traffic noise shouldn't be too much of an issue. Thanks for the comments
