Belgium
I have just come out of an all day meeting to the catastophic news. I am supposed to be going to parc de closure on Friday (catching the 7:40 am ferry from Dover). As this is only my 2nd trip abroad do you think its going to happen? Theres so much going
through my head customs, borders etc... Were supposed to be going to Brussels next Wednedsday - even booked a hotel & was planning to park the car at the airport

I think you'll be perfectly safe on a campsite, Steve, but on Government advice I would avoid Brussels and all big cities for the moment. Sad, because it means the terrorists are winning, but just being sensible.
I think you may find that there is increased security at the ports, both on this side, and in Calais. There may be delays at the border, and queueing traffic.
Unfortunately these people target 'soft targets' people going about their normal business, and it does become frightening. I think all of us who are planning to travel anywhere in the next few days, will be very apprehensive.
I can only sympathise with everyone affected by this!0 -
I think I would concur with Val. We were in Brussels last year, two weeks before the shootings in Paris. Its a nice place to visit, especially the old part.

What a bunch of pathetic losers they are though. New York, Madrid, London, Paris and now Brussels. Are they planning on bombing the whole planet into submission? Some strategy.

Hi Scotts
I hope you have a great trip. I agree with ValD, there may be some delays at the ferry port and borders so give yourself some extra time.
I have booked a holiday in a mobile home at La Parc Clusure for June. I visited the site in 2014 and can't wait to go back
I won't be changing my plans.

We're off to the continent after Easter. Don't know where, but thinking of Cologne and then the Ardennes area of Belgium.
It's a matter of being careful and avoiding likely trouble spots. You can't live your life in fear.

If we all stop living our lives as we wish then they have won.

Quite rightly you need to continue to live your life as you choose but given all the recent problems in the past few years you really do need to be more aware/mindful of your environment and have regard to the increased risks there are these days,
in my opinion. Not to do so would be very silly and not fair to others. We must all play our part. Regards, Roy0 -
Us too David, and long may we feel able to do so. Not long before you are away now. Our May/June trip has had to be cancelled with our son moving abroad so we are looking forward to a couple of weeks over near you from 17th April. Regards, Roy
