Advice on a new site in France please
Hi
We are developing a new site in the south of France and would be very pleased if any members could find a minute to complete our questionnaire at http://www.mikesibthorp.com/caravan/
Many thanks

Filled it in. I would suggest you put the same request on as many other caravan/motorhome forums as possible.
Some others are:
Caravan Talk
UKCS
Caravan Chat
Practical Caravan
Practical Motorhome
Motorhome Fun and many others. You will get a variety of views then, from all sections of the camping/caravanning and motorhome fraternities, hopefully reflecting a wide range of opinions.
I would emphasise that you will be open all year as it's one of the things which people enquire about a lot, especially those heading south for the winter.

Thanks ValDa, already on lots of forums but missed the "Practical" ones.

I've filled in the questionaire but it is difficult to give accurate feedbacK e.g. difficult to assess hove much I would be prepared to pay and how much I would use the site unless I see pictures/ website, whether the pitch would include water hook up and
waste drainage on the pitch; what the facilities are in relation to the maximum number of pitches; more specific details on location/ ease of access etc. Quite difficult!David

I've also filled it in, but have made the following comments in the comments box as well:
There are no "N/A" or "0" options in any of the categories; ie we never travel to France in high season, therefore I have no idea what the occupancy levels are during that time. But with no option to choose N/A I've left it as it is, which will not reflect my accurate input. Equally, I wouldn't stay at all in high season, but without a "0 nights" option, I wasn't able to input this.
I don't know whether the above will affect the results a lot, but as you state that your target market is "mature people" it may well do, as not many "mature people" travel in high season.
Just my penn'orth

I've added my comments in the 'text box' on the questionnaire, and I hope others have done the same. I appreciate wanting to keep things simple, but the problem is that you may not then get the detail you need to make accurate judgements. You will also
find that people want different things from a campsite, and it is very difficult to please all of the people all of the time.0 -
You may also want to try and find forums for the whole of Europe.

British owned campsites in France have a reputation for being overpriced despite being in out of the way locations.
Nevertheless they attract a good number of visitors - typically all from the UK who like to be together without international company, often seeking security from language difficulties and potential foreign problems. It seems a successful business model that you might wish to follow.

A ditto on the comments of Ina D and Eurotraveller-I have filled in your survey and pointed you to a French run site of which I have a very high opinion; having been back to it frequently over twenty years for a few nights at a time while touring around
France. The owners really do know what they are doing and they have built a thriving business over three generations of constant re-investment in their site whilst ever going "over the top" on any aspect of it.0
