Dog categories / Proof of Rabies vac in France?

Just browsing some websites looking for places to stay in France and came across one which said category 1 and 2 dogs must be muzzled on site.  Does anyone know what these categories mean?

Also a couple of sites said proof of Rabies vaccination must be shown on arrival.  Does anyone know if the UK system of 3 year validity of vaccination would be accepted, or would compliance with the French system of annual vaccination be required in this situation?

Here's the Caravan Club information on the subject:

If you have a dog of the 'types' featured then make absolutely sure that the dog will be accepted by the particular site you want to visit, prior to visiting.  If necessary get a statement from your vet about it's breed and/or pedigree.

For all types of dogs you only need to show your pet passport of proof of vaccination, and not comply with the French regulations.
