Has anyone stayed at Camping du Salagou near Clermont L'Herault, I would appreciate any views you have on this site, good or bad, as it looks like a nice area to stop off on our way back from Catalonia in late June

Thanks in advance

Admiral.  Not stayed at the campsite but know the area quite well when we lived nearby.  Nice area and it was a place we went to for lake swimming in the heat of summer.

Friends have stayed there - and liked it.  They were staying over Bastille Day and the village nearby had an amazing firework display, apparently, visible from the site.  It's a useful site for those heading south as it's open all year.

I trust my friends, Admiral, so it's on our list of useful sites.

By the way, we stayed at Loupian in high season in 2015 (late July/early August) - and enjoyed it.  We had a lovely meal at the 'restaurant' (rustic but great food), walked to the Roman re-enactment at Villa Loupian, visited Meze and saw the Water Jousting, cycled nearby, birdwatched, chilled out, and had a lovely time!

We've stayed there 3 times now, and enjoyed it each time.  If you stay again, try and cycle to Balaruc-les-Bains; it's a lovely cycle ride and Balaruc is really nice, has a good market and lovely views from the long prom, which you can also cycle all the way round.  It's got lovely views from every part of it, and by the Tourist office there is a thermal foot bath at 45C!

Thanks Ina - I think Balaruc is one of the few places we didn't get to!

I think we may go back this year once we get the caravan back out of storage.

The site accepts ACSI too, although I don't think it's expensive even in peak season (notice you went end July/August).  Used to be 12 Euros, probably 13 Euros this year, haven't checked it.

Glad you liked Loupian Val, we went to see the jousting in the Harbour a great spectacle and quite exciting, We love the area but not too keen on Agde or Sete

Some really nice Retaurants in Balaruc and Bouziques which is nearer if driving (if you know what I mean)
