The best time to go there is when they are open - a mere two months a year from 24 March to 16 May 2016 with most of the daffodils first and most of the tulips later.
The majority of CC members stay at the sites at Delft or Koningshof but there are a dozen or more nearby sites in the Touring Europe guide and the ACSI site guide, so we went to one of them.

There is also a nice Netherlands Caravan Club site within a reasonable distance, price per night roughly 10-12 euros, must book ahead. They have a reciprocal agreement with our Club.
Will see if I can post details.........

Its always difficult to recommend the best time as the flowering is very weather dependent. In the UK we have seen daffodils flowering much earlier this years because of the warm (relatively) temperatures in the new year. In 2008 we visited the gardens in
early May and by then it was mainly Tulips (what else in Holland!!) but they were spectacular. You could give Keukenhof a ring as they could likely give you the best advice for this year.David

Haven't been before but we are booked into Camping Koningshof for a week on April 21 - I believe there will be an organised CC event there at the same time so it sounds like a good choice. We have daytime crossings with caravan Harwich to Hook return for
£113.40 with the CC - excellent. Moving on for another week in West Frisia before returning. See you there?0 -
We are going from 3rd May. Staying at Koningshof too, pitched all booked.
We are going Harwich - HH route. Used Tesco vouchers.

We were unfortunate to go on the day of the annual flower festival and I have never in my life seen so many crowds. It was a nightmare. Get there when it opens and allow plenty of itime for travel.

We are staying at the Koningshof site. Does anyone know if I can buy tickets for the gardens there or was thinking of buying online before I leave.

I would suggest it's always best to purchase tickets on line. No hassle and arrive relaxed.
The Keukenhof parade is free and best seen outside the towns.
The Zundert parade is best viewed from the paid grandstands (Last Sunday September).....so much more dramatic than Keukenhof....booking for that one doesn't open until springtime.

You can buy on line in advance, but you might find you have chosen a rainy day, you can also buy at that campsite on the day.

We went to the gardens last week, absolute riot of colour. Warmest day of the week and the sunshine really made the day, the flower displays were truly spectacular. Don't worry about tickets, plenty on sale. It was heaving with people, but we were to
busy admiring the flowers to worry about them. The fields around that part of Holland are just as spectacular with whole fields in just one colour.0 -
We went there last year at end of April and the gardens were spectacular but you may want to get there early as lots of coach loads turn up. Plenty of places to eat and lots of bulbs in flower in nearby fields, you will really enjoy it.

Yes, you can cycle, but about 10 miles each way.

Write your comments here... Decided to take the car. We cycled it another day and it was 28km.

We cycled to Keukenhof from Koningshof on our tandem. The cycle routes are superb. Try to get the Z uid-Holland-Nord cycle map no.14 by Falk.We also used the Harwich Hook ferry. It’s worthwhile using camping cheques at Koningshof.

Write your comments here... Didn't realised they took camping cheques. I agree the cycle routes are excellent. We did find the aircraft noise a bit annoying.
