Red Pennant vs Nationwide Flexplus
A multi trip RP cover would cost us about £310 annually whereas Nationwide Flexplus cost to upgrade is £120 annually.
Both offer onward travel in the event of a breakdown however RP do offer some extras which seem to be unncessary.
With the Flexplus we would not need Greenflag Mayday cover at £109 annually. Therefore we would be saving at least £300 annually with Flexplus and we woudl have similar cover as the Flexplus also includes personal worldwide cover and not just for the EU.
Are we missing something if we decide to go the Flexplus route instead of using Red Pennant?

I have exactly the same issue. I too have Flexplus and wondered whether Red Pennant was necessary. Flexplus seems to cover all I need, which basically is breakdown cover, repatriation and hospital in case of real emergency. So many travel insurances include
lots of extras which I don't want or need.0 -
Thanks. Shortly after raising the thread I realised that as Flexaccount holders we had personal cover for Europe anyway so that saved nearly £100 on a multi trip Red Pennant Cover as we would only require motoring cover.
A very BIG drawback on the Nationwide breakdown policy is that if you are out sightseeing for the day and have a breakdown, they will recover you to the local garage. If the local garage cannot do a fix and the vehicle needs to go to a garage local to your
home, they will recover it home, but apparently will not recover the caravan as it was not attached to vehicle at the time of the breakdown. In effect your caravan is on a site somewhere and you have to find the means to get it back home also paying any additional
fees for it being pitched on site.At least with RP or Mayday, they will recover the vehicle to the caravan site so that you can enjoy the rest of your holiday. In the meantime a hire car can be obtained. Once the holiday is over, RP or Mayday will recover the vehicle, the caravan and the
people. The vehicle will be taken to a garage local to your home, caravan to storage and people to their home.0 -
With banks tightening their belts, how long will Flexi Plus last, allso RP fully understand caravanners and truckers needs, as I have found ut more than once

I guess it all comes down whether you prefer talking to the CC which will have an understanding of your predicament or whether you would trust a so called trained call centre operater who really has little idea of what a car/caravan or motorhome actually
is.0
