The Belgian government has today announced that it is reinstating border controls between France and Belgium on a temporary basis.   They are posting between 250 and 290 border guards to man these controls following the French removal of part of The Jungle migrant camp at Calais as they fear that these people will move up to the Belgian ports instead.
HERE is the article for anyone who is interested.

I thought some members who are crossing the channel soon may like to know.

Sounds like a nightmare all round, there was a huge amount of traffic on the A16 ( I think ), last time we were there. They can't possibly check every vehicle, can they?

The French have allowed this issue to fester for many years instead of properly adressing it. If other countries start adopting a more draconian approach to their border controls, they may find that they will have to grasp the nettle.

The Svengen agreement seems to be falling appart.  Hope it all settles down by end May as we have 8 (at least) borders to cross!!!!  Spoke to my brother in law in Germany about this and they are very concerned about the impact on internal european trade.
