South of France, advice again!

Another plea for help. We're in our mid 60s and I want to go to see St Trop, Nice, Monte Carlo etc to buy the T shirt and see how the other half live, for a day anyway. Don't want an all singing, dancing and noisy site, but one within an easy walk to a beach, to a town/village and with a pool, maybe a bar and  an eating place. Will be there mid to late June. Looked at lots of sites online and seem to home in on Camping La Plage at Port Grimaud. Is it any good or are there are others better for us "older folk."

    If you plan to go along the coast to Nice and Monte Carlo then you might be better to stay at a campsite near a train station  - Port Grimaud doesn't have a railway but does have traffic.

    As regular travellers to the south of France and Cote d'Azur we tend not to stay on the coast but inland, with regular day trips. The sites we have seen on the coast are usually busy and too near either railways or main roads. Try Vence, a beautiful and
    historic city with an excellent site, 25 minutes drive from the coast.

    We stayed at a site in Villeneuve-Loubet. Camping La Veille Ferme,  In June 2013. So we could visit Monte Carlo and Nice, Cannes and Antibe. It doesn't tick all your boxes, there is a swimming pool, a small bar that serves pizzas etc.  There is a beach,
    but it is the other side of the road. There is a bus stop 5 mins walk away that takes you to Cannes and Antibe in one direction or Nice and Monte Carlo the other.  We used the bus to Nice and Antibes, cost a grand total of €2 each return! We used the train
    to M.C cost was about €20 return. You can get the bus to M.C but have to get a connecting bus from Nice. We actually preferred the bus ride. 

    There are a few other sites in the area that might be worth looking into too.

    we stayed just outside port grimaud 3 years ago , its a excellent area , we got a ferry to st torpaz from port Grimaud.there are some really nice villages in the area. the traffic is bad going in the direction of st torpaz , aviod the rush hours.  there
    are two great site on the beach there and the time of year  you are going most sites will not have loads of children so they are quiet. dont for get to use camping cheque's or ACSI they both give you a cheap nights stay with electric. have a great time there

    Never 'done' the south of France as we had been put off by friends "Too crowded/busy/full of Brits etc" until last June. We booked 'Les Pinades' through the Club as it was loads cheaper to do it that way and found a quiet site with bar/pool etc. Yes it is
    on a steep hillside and is about 4 or 5 miles from the seafront but central for loads of visiting. Just looked and it's still available through the Club.

    We won't be there in June Boleroboy, as Cath has booked us on a Baltic Cruise! You could buy a few Hymer windows for what we're paying! ( In joke) , Still, we hope to be there in September to enjoy the last of the summer sunshine.Cool

    June is`nt overly busy in the South of France mid July to late August is, even so Port Grimaud up to Monaco is a longish trip either by car or public transport taking into account parking etc. You would be better off stopping in Port Grimaud visiting St
    Trop, Frejus, St Raphael etc using your car then moving up to La Vielle Ferme or similar and seeing Cannes, Nice, Monaco etc. using public transport. Buses are cheap but can be crowded e.g. Cannes to Nice is 1.50 Euro each way, train is faster, as you are
    over sixty ask for a senior fare saves 25% you do not need to be French or produce proof of age. There is a lot to see on the Cote d`Azur we have been going for a month for years now and always enjoy it.
