Koningshof site

We are going to visit the Keukenhof gardens. Ferry is all booked from Harwich, just need to sort out the site/s.

As this one is so close this is our obvious choice. (Shame it's not in the Acsi scheme). We are only visiting (Europe) for 9 nights, so are thinking of staying on this site for the duration. Just wondered if there is enough to do for that long, or maybe spilt our time between 2 sites. Any thoughts?  This will be our first time with the caravan in Holland.

Its a short stop because we want to stay a few nights either side in the UK.

I can't comment on the site but the gardens are excellent. Take care to get there early in the morning during peak times; the crowds are unbelievable.

Visit Amsterdam, The Hague and Delft.

hi great site stayed there two years ago. Good situation for visiting Amsterdam, coast nearby, flower market and nearby towns. Friendly staff discount tickets for Keukenhof you can book early arrival and late departure. Well worth it. Enjoy.

Another area of Holland which is very interesting if you are interested in WW11 Sites.  Arnhem is a very interesting area to visit.  We stayed at Camping Warnsborn on the edge of National Park just outside Arnhem.  It is not an CC ACSI site but is not expensive.

Pick up a copy of Rough Guide to the Netherlands, decide what you want to see and do in your nine days. If those places are near enough then drive to them, but if you want to see the Het Loo Palace, Piet Oudolf's garden, the VanGoghs in the Kroller Muller museum, or the Hoge Veluwe national park it might be best to spend some of your time on a site over there. Your choice!

Koningshof is certainly convenient for the Keukenhof Gardens. If you have bikes its not far from the coast. They used to run an excursion into Amsterdam but you could also go by train from Leiden. Equally their sister site at Delft would also suit as there is a bus from the campsite to the station if you don't want to take the car.

We have stayed at Solassi in the past...it's not all singing and dancing but close to Keukenhof and opposite some very colourful bulb fields.....in season!

They seem to have built a motorway through the area since I was last there. It was an easy cycle ride to Katwijk and Leiden, both worth a visit. The North Sea coastal resorts are not at all like ours. No slots or rides, just peaceful with cafes overlooking
the beach and well sheltered from the wind. If you are there at the right time, there is a tulip parade sometime in April. We had no problem finding things to do for a week.

A couple of years ago in April we did a 4 hour boat trip around the canals departing Katwijk.  Really good weather and sat on the top deck all the time.  We were staying at Delft which is only 30 minutes from the ferry.  Keukenhof took about 30 minutes both
ways, massive car park so no problem parking.

We visited the Keukenhof gardens a few years, our second time. Stayed at Delft. We found getting to the gardens was very easy, we took the train to Lieden and then the bus to the gardens. It may have changed, but the first time we bought bus and garden entrance
tickets at the station but they would only accept cash. On the second visit we found it was as easy to book the bus and garden entrance tickets online. The buses are right outside the station entrance and are very frequent. When coming back from the gardens,
just make sure you get the right bus as they go Amsterdam as well. The gardens are certainly worth a visit

We stayed at Koningshof last year and visited Keukenhof Gardens. We booked our tickets to the gardens at the site reception. The tickets included a coach trip through the bulb fields on our way to Keukenhof. We had a choice of a day or afternoon trip, The
day trip including our tickets to the gardens was 16 euro each. Were going again this year staying at the same site which we found very good.

Did anybody see the TV pictures of Chinese commuters waiting at the station during the rail strike? Trust me, at flower festival time the Keukenhof gardens are worse. Never in my life have I seen so many people at an outdoors attraction except, perhaps,
at a rock concert. The buses take forever from the station. Avoid at this time or go when it opens.

We have stayed at both Koningshof and Delft sites mentioned and much prefer Delft. Delft is very pretty and lots of amenities close by. Both well run sites though just personally prefer Delft and the surrounding area.

We have just returned from our second visit to Holland. We visited three sites.

Koningshof, Delft and Resort de Arendshorst.

We stayed at Koningshof last year and visited Delft. There was so much to see and do a week isn't long enough so we stayed 3 weeks this year.

Arendshorst is a much quieter site it's a 3 hour drive from the Hook. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak perfect English The site is well kept and the facilities clean as is all of Holland. The site has a Bar/Restaurant which serves good food they also do take away meals. There is lots to see in this area of Holland. The town of Ommen 5 km away is beautiful, always busy. We saw band's in the street and a horse drawn carriage parade. We visited Paleis Het Loo about an hour's drive away it's a journey through three centuries of Orange history. We also went to Giethoorn where we hired a boat to tour the village. There are no roads in the village so it's either walk or as we did, hired a boat to tour the village.

My wife has family in Holland and she met up with cousins she had not seen for 43 years. Next years visit could be longer
