Hello, we are heading down to Perpignan (and surrounding area) in April and wondered whether there are off road cycling routes on the coast. Also has anyone used the train from Perpignan to Barcelona for a day trip?

Can't help you with cycling but loco2.com will give you train times and prices of fares . That journey is about 1 hour 20 minutes each way.

There are 'official' cycle routes, known as Voie Verte.  The website is in French but you can use Google translate if you need to.

If you're a fit cyclist there are some excellent routes in the Hautes Corbieres - not necessarily off road, but on quiet roads with little traffic (and spectacular views!)

There are some very good deals on local buses and trains - one euro will take you anywhere in the department on the bus, and several places on the train, but train tickets have to be booked in advance.

We  have a holiday home in the area so if there's anything you need to know just ask.
