Low Emission Zone Compliance in Europe

Hi - we are planning a trip to Germany, Denmark and Sweden at the end of April in our 2005 Geist Spirit motorhome. I note from my research that a number of towns and cities in all three countries have Low Emission Zones (including some we plan to visit).
Information on Denmark says that a compliance sticker is required to indicate that the vehicle is emissions compliant. Does anyone have experience of this or advice on obtaining the required sticker?

    Only needed if you are over 3.5 tonnes.

    You get them from the equivalent of our MOT test stations, so can get one as soon as you enter the country.  Or you can order on line.

    You will get a green if you are Euro 4 compliant, or better, or have a suitable particle filter fitted, otherwise you get a red.

    We have sticker for Germany, but, I have to admit, I did drive in German "emmission control zones" several times, in blissful ignorance, with no adverse reaction or penalty.

    All vehicles in Germany require one if entering the zones.

    Even if you don't for a few pounds you may as well get one just to be sure.

    Google (umwelt plakette) for all the places you can purchase....official TUV offices charge less than £10...even by post.

    The Umwelt Plakette is based on what Euro engine and emissions you have as an increasing number of zones, if not all by now, require a green sticker, rather than a yellow or red. Euro engines 4/5/6 are fine but earlier engines might be a problem. The link I have put above is from the Berlin office where you can order one at reasonable cost if you are not happy to turn up and any German garage with your V5. If you order online via my link you will have to have a means of scanning your V5 so that you can attach it to the website. Perhaps important to note you don't need the sticker just to drive across Germany its only required if you venture into one of the cities that has an Umwelt zone.

    I have a green Umwelt which cost 10 € at a local garage in Winsen Aller in 2014.  On my previous car I wrote to the local tourist information office in Koln and they sent one to my UK address

    Cheapest place for the Umwelt is "Stadt Koln" pop a 5 Eur note in with a copy of your V5 and they will send one back remarkably quickly used them twice now. If you go to "Stad Koln Unwelt Plakette website you will find reference to on line purchase but there
    is also a section on the above method.

    Given how little it costs you should definitely get an Umwelt sticker if you are going into Germany.

    You may not be intending to drive into an Emmissions Zone, but if the motorway is closed guess where the diversion will take you!

    Brian daylight robbery, either get one when you hit Germany or apply at Stadt Koln.

    Thank you for pointing that out as I had not realised I had entered the wrong URL for ordering. The info is fine but to buy from the Berlin site you need to go here where it is a little bit more economic!!! I will edit my original post, thanks.

    We did like AD, first stop in Germany, while out shopping, dropped into the garage next to the supermarket, presented the V5 and paid my 5 euros. 

    Took all of 5 minutes, they even stuck it on the windscreen for me.

    City Centres in Germany are remarkably quiet compared to UK.  We drove into Berlin, Dresden and Munich, amongst others,  and found parking with no problem.  Usually inexpensive, sometimes free.

    They cost 6€ or maximum 12.50€, best bought on the web before you go.

    See "Buying German LEZ stickers" on any of the German city pages of http://urbanaccessregulations.eu, for example Aachen.

    You can also find all the information about where the low emission zones are - in Germany and the whole of Europe, in one place in English. A really useful website.

    Why make getting the Umlet complex! Just pop into a gragage in Germany armed with 5 euros and your V5!
