We are planning to stop overnight after we get off the ferry at Santander (late afternoon)!and hoped people had some suggestions for us. We only need one night and literally want to arrive, set up the caravan, eat and get the kids to sleep.

Thanks in advance

I'd like a recommendation for this for April, I know there are plenty in the books but is there a good one that others would recommend pleaseCool

We have used Camping Cabo Mayor on the edge of Santander. It is convenient with modern facilities. A bit pricy as it is not in CC or ACSI but access is easy and the pitches are good. It opens in 2016 on 21st March, just before Easter. A 5-10 minute walk
brings you to a bus stop for a bus into Santander and up the hill to the lighthouse is a very good cafe/restaurant for a meal.

Thanks for that recommendation, had already chosen that site for same reasons as OP so nice to have confirmation.

    We like
    El Helguero
, which is about 40 mins west of Santander.  An excellent site but for an overnight it might frustrate as you would wish you were staying longer!  It is in the ACSI book, 2750

We're thinking of a couple of nights at El Helguero to visit the Alta Mira caves. It looks good from the website.

Thank you and we will go for the Cabo Mayor, we are aiming for the coast the next day so will leave early but come back here on the way home for a few nights.
