First trip out to Europe

Hi All,

Looking for advice please, I am off on my first trip out to Holland this coming September and am trying to get as much info together before I venture out to ensure a smooth holiday.

I will be travelling in an 8m MH and intend to go via the Euro Tunnel, so the first question is this MH too big to fit in or are they used to the larger sized vehicles. I realise trucks go on there, just wondering if they allow the MH to go with the trucks.

My second question is my choice of destination, I intend to stop at an Aires in Arnhem down by John Frost Bridge, has anyone stopped there before and can offer any advice.

Thanks.

Neil

Hi Neil.  I'll move this to the Overseas section in just a moment.  I think you will get more help if it's moved.

    Best wishes

I've never camped in Holland and certainly not in September.  Hopefully someone will help.

Neil, You will go in a single deck carriage. Maximum size of vehicle is 19.4 metres long, 4.2 metres high, and 44 tonnes weight. I think you will be OK. Smile

I hope someone else can help you with info about the aire. Have a safe journey.

As has been pointed out, with Eurotunnel you won't go with the lorries, you'll go with other MHs, caravans and coaches in the same carriages.  Coaches use the same carriages so with an 8m MH you'll be quite a bit smaller than a coach!

Haven't used the Aire you mention but being Dutch have read the info and it sounds in a good position.  It's €9,00 per night, but maximum stay is 48 hours, so have you anywhere else in mind after or before there?

Edited to say that the info says that services (grey water disposal, CDP and water are not at the Aire, but 1.5km away.

Reports aren't too good but looks reasonable.....pay on phone with a credit card.

Obviously language no problem in Holland!

Neil - I had a quick look at the link in your OP.  Am I right in thinking you can only stay on this site for two days before you have to move elsewhere or have I misunderstood?  Have you checked to make sure it is open for the time you need to stay.  Just
    a couple of thoughts.

I must recommend a great and friendly site in Amsterdam.

Camping zeeburg. A bit tight on road leading up to site but ok.

Very friendly ,pitches for MH and caravans .the camping area has the atmosphere of a festival .just full of youngsters from all over the world  having a great time but only in a good way .

Short walk to trams to take you into center .

You may feel a bit light headed from the aroma when entering the camp but no trouble whatsoever.

We even had a night refunded as we left early

Now where would you get that ?

Unless you have a specific reason for using this Aire why not  use a proper campsite, at €9 a night its not much of a bargin at that time of year.

Camping Warnsborn at Arnhem has a bus into the city every half hour from a stop at the campsite gate.

Presumably you have a reason for choosing the tunnel but have you considered Stena Line, Harwich to the Hook of Holland, cheaper than the tunnel without the drive from Calais. Ships are modern large and comfortable. Two sailings a day, very reliable from
    my experience.
