I have not been on the site for some time so not sure if this has been brought up ,with all the problems in France and of Course the Recent terrible Tragedy in Paris are people still going to Travel over to France ..I know we cannot let them win but its
still frightening all the same .. We had planned to go again next year our fourth time but still thinking about it we normally book the Ferry Crossing in January its up in the air at the moment.

I don't feel threatened by it and I'm ****'d if I'm going to be stopped from taking a holiday.

We don't feel threatened either.  We shall be going back to France, as normal, holidaying as normal, and enjoying our time in a beautiful country. I would suggest that to defeat the terrorists as many people as possible to continue to do the same.  If we stop going, they've won yet another victory.

Half of our family are French and they are not worried about coming over here for Christmas. We are going to Paris for New Year and I feel quite safe.If you weigh up the risks then Sainsburys car park in the snow and ice is quite tricky

I think that we are in just as much danger in this country as abroad. Our ferry was booked before the Paris tragedy and we have no desire to change it. In fact we are considering returning for a second holiday in the autumn.

We shall be off for 8 weeks in May-June as we have done for the last few years. There is little point in worrying about what might happen when you go otherwise you would never leave the house, but then more accidents occur in the home than outside it. So
get on with living and don't let the bad people win.

We never make any definite plans more than a month in advance but we will be going to Europe at some stage.  The events in Paris have not put us off.

I think the biggest concern with next year would be football hooligans rather than terrorists.

Sorry but no terrorist is going to dictate where we go on holiday and we certainly plan to go to France next year. Nothing booked yet but we normally do around Xmas/New Year.

In fact just for the sheer heck of it we might even have a few days in Paris, we haven't been for years and we love the place. Once people start modifying their behaviour that's it they have won. I read somewhere you have more chance being killed driving
to your local supermarket than you do by a terrorist, good enough odds for me.

There were 18,000 road accident deaths a year in France when we first went in 1972. Yes 18,000. And still we went again.

We will be going to the continent as usual this spring.

i think you need to keep your wits about you, particularly in busy places, wether it is near a football ground or a ferry terminal

We'll be going again too; not letting anybody dictate where I want to spend my holidays, be it in the UK or abroad.

So, Arrivakids, with the overwhelming positive response, have you made your decision?  I'm sure we're all interested to know your decision; hope you go for it like those who have posted on here.

Glad to hear you're going for it!

September can be lovely, we've been going to France twice a year for about 12 years now; May/June and September/October.  Remember though that it gets dark a lot earlier in September, around 7-7.30pm depending on exactly where you are in France.  It can
also get cooler earlier in the evenings and for longer in the mornings; you may need to go that bit further south to get warmer weather.

We've had some lovely weather in September, and also some not so lovely weather, but that is also true of May/June.

Weather unfortunately is difficult to predict, you can be lucky or unlucky.

How true InaD's post is. We had wonderful weather in West France  in September 2014, 24 - 28c most days lovely, with only 30 mins of rain overnight on 1 night. How differant it was this year, not too bad at the begining of September but then terrible for
the rest unless you went to the South. The one good thing about France is that there is always somewhere else to move to if you need to. We will be going back again next year.

The weather can be lovely in September but if you are in a caravan and need sites then take care to make sure your chosen sites are still open.    Several times on this forum it has been mentioned that most French sites close before 30th September.  In our
area it is usually around 14th.  If you are in a motorhome it doesn't matter so much because France has some wonderful aires that are available all year.
