iOS 10
Has anyone updated to it?
Any problems? See any differences?
My phone keeps nagging me to update.

I updated the phone a couple of weeks ago. Touch wood I've not had any problems yet although some of the functions are a bit different. Updated the iPad last week and again some functions take a bit of getting used to. One thing I did notice is that on logging
into CT my log in details which I had managed to save have now disappeared and I'm having to go through the rigmarole of entering the details from scratch every time. Tapping the remember my details box doesn't seem to work But I believe that's more to do
with CT than with ios10.0 -
Papgeno, you need to set it in Settings / Safari and not from the CT log-in page. All the CT box does is to hold your email address until you close the browser.

I updated both my iPad and iPhone to iOS10 a week or so ago (got fed up with the reminders, having to put in my pass code a second time, and agreeing to the T&Cs). The notifications look a bit different, and I haven't had any problems, but there has been
a minor update since. The main nuisance, I think, is being forced to have additional Apps that I don't want/need as standard.0 -
Thanks TW I had done it before but had forgotten how. Ian the differences I've noticed are around the switching on if that's the right term. Where you used to have to swipe the phone to get to your access code you now have to press the home button. On my
phone I can get in with my thumb print. When the phone recognized my thumb it used to go straight to the apps. Now it sometimes does that sometimes it prompts me to press the home button which also takes me to the apps. One or two apps are in different positions
and I have a Health app which is completely different. That's all so far.0 -
No problem, Papgeno.
Can't you move the apps in the usual way to a position that suits you better?

Well, I did the upgrade (both iPhone an iPad) and it all seemed to go well.
No serious changes - I guess the main one is using the Home button to unlock (probably because some devices have fingerprint recognition there) but no great shakes.
I like that, when deleteing emails, the spam box option pops up, without having to look for that folder.
If only Apple would find a way to block spam emails.
I would think that there are now all sorts of things that you can do with text messaging, photos and social media......but I doubt I will be delving too far into that.
So. all set up for another couple of months!

You can block spam, Ian, but you can't do it from a Pad or Phone. You have to access your Apple account from a desktop computer and learn all about it.

No you can't actually. This is regularly discussed on Apple forums and it is a well known (and annoying) fault.
You can (I believe) block it using a Mac, but not when your emails are forwarded to an iPad / iPhone from an account on a PC.

Seems to be working for me.

Updated our pads and phones yesterday. All seems OK. The only initial problem was that they would not find the AirPrint printer. This was eventually solved by disconnecting and reconnecting the printer with the router. No idea why that worked.

The update 'appeared' on my iPhone a day or so ago and I updated last night. iPad had no such message and it tells me that my iOS 9.3.5 software is up to date? it's an iPad 2.

Steve, I've heard of some people having problems with the screen rotation lock. Is yours OK? On yours is the rotation lock on/off button still present in the control panel which pops up from the bottom of the screen?
Alan and Jean, ios10 isn't compatible with some older devices.

No problem with rotation on either the pads or the phones. On the pads we have selected to use the side switch to lock rotation, rather than use it to mute. In this mode a mute button is visible on the control panel. If you select the side button to mute
your device, the button in the control panel changes to one that locks rotation. On the phones the control panel has the lock rotation one at all times, as there is no side switch option, as there is no side switch.0 -

Write your comments here...The update appeared on my iPhone a couple of weeks before it did on the iPad. It'll be there eventually.

iOS10 isn't compatible with iPad 2, nor is it compatible with iPhone 4S or earlier.
Basically, if your device has a 30 pin connector (i.e. not a lightning connector) then iOS is not available to you.

If you go to Settings / About you can pick up the model number. Put the number in Google and it will tell you the name of the model.
My model number is MGKL2B/A and Google tells me that's an Air2 64gb in space grey - correct.
