Parking Charges

Given the amount of fuel tax plus Road Fund Licence, I am pathologically opposed to paying to park on a bit of tarmac that I've already paid for. I'll only pay to park as a last resort.
Which must be often

It has been a few years since we were previously in Cornwall but what we remembered was high parking charges. This year on our re-visit, we were pleasantly surprised that the charges appear to have been reduced, generally across the county. What we did notice
though was that most public loos now charge 20pThe loo is very cheap. I remember visiting right up in the north of Scotland (Kyle of Lochalsh) back in 1993 and was charged 20p to use the loos then (it seemed expensive so that's why I remember). But yes, I think parking charges are ridiculous. At Tameside
Hospital near Manchester blue badgeholders are charged £2+ close to the main entrance, whereas if you go down the hill (about 150 yards), its £1.50. So OH visits Manchester Royal Infirmary where its free all day0 -

My thoughts are that the hospital has sent you an invite so basically the landlord has invited you onto their property so why shoudl any oen pay a parking charge? After all it is the taxpayer
that has paid for the hospital so why should a PPC take a cut for an infringement of their parking rules?0 -
We always try to park on the outskirts of places as we enjoy a walk anyway. However, yesterday we got stung for £18 parking in Cardiff for our son's Graduation - that was for 7 hours! We had to be there for 9am and didn't have the time, or the right footwear
to find alternatives. Also, my elderly Mother was with us. There is a superb 'Park and Ride' service for Cardiff at £3 per car but just wasn't convenient for our plans yesterday.0 -
I remember my Dad cursing the car parks in Cornwall..... "Everywhere you go, someone appears with a leather satchel asking for money".
Much the same nowadays, except that you now have to go find a machine to pay the money into.
Ah well, at least the one at at Polperro sings to you.....

The NT is a good bet for a parking space in a lot of areas, if you are a member. No need to visit the House or whatever, well not more than once or twice, just use the car park and go for a walk. Also often has the advantage of toilets and a cafe.
