To clarify an earlier point......the basic state pension might be £119 per week (can't remember the figures just now) but people get an amount based on their NI contributions......so can get more or less than this.
The minimum guarantee amount for someone of state pension age for a woman is £155.......so if you get less than this, it will be topped up by Pension Credit. However, any other income will be taken into account, so you may not get the full top up.
Incidently, if you do get Pension Credi (the Guarantee part, not the Savings part - which you can only get at 65) you will be eligible for full Housing Benefit and full Council Tax Reduction.
Don't you just love all tbes benefits rules? I do wonder how people who haven't been trained in the benefits system are supposed to know
what they are entitled to.IanH it was a big learning curve when we had to start dealing with Mum's stuff, she was entitled to all sorts that we were not aware of. I'm pretty sure there must be lots of people out there in the same boat. The work CAB and yourself do is amazing long
may it continue.0 -
I haven't finished with this year yet
We have for this this year but not finished booking the sites for this trip!!

That's where Ian and CAB are so valuable.
PS We haven't thought about next year yet either. Lots of possibilities but no definite decisions yet.
We're the same Millie. Plenty of time to consider where to go for us, so certainly won't be bothering with the booking frenzy.

Frost overnight and washing having to be done resulted in a late start. Drove over to Lytham where we had a couple of walks along the prom in hazy cool sunshine. Firstly past the White Church and around Fairhaven Park, then in the other direction to the
Windmill and back through the town.0 -
Yes the contracted out bit can make a big differance to the new pension. Luckily I only lose a small amount, however my company pension is considerably greater. OH loses more than me but again his Military pension more than makes up for it. As I worked in
Germany for a period and paid German tax I could in theory claim a small part towards my pension, but as under the new pension I already have full contributions I haven't bothered.Maybe you should? My Norwegian amount takes no notice of what I get from UK, so I benefit.
AIUI, if you would get more by the other country paying you than by adding years to the UK amount, they will pay you the higher amount direct. You cannot lose.

The big booking day has never really been a big issue for us as we tend to use CC sites mainly weekdays out of season. We have also not even thought about 2017 yet. I don't think we'll be going to France/ Germany etc though next year - we may not be able
to afford to go for 7 weeks so we may stop in the UK and save on tunnel costs and insurance.David

Wow this booking day is a nusicance. Just wanted to check out sites and CLs recently reviewed. Really attractive page telling me 'we're getting ready for 2017'. Can't check out site or review. This goes to show the importance of the handbook and map. What's
the use if a website thgthgats out iuf action for hours for a routine task like booking or site surfing???For the life if me I cannot see the sense in not allowing bookings to be continuous without a cut off and frenzy day.

I'm just having my first cup of tea this morning and catching up on reading all the posts on here. It seems like quite a few of you are preparing to go on holiday to catch some winter sun!
It's a rather grey and foggy morning here but less cold than it has been over the last few days.
It was absolutely manic at work yesterday and no time to catch up on here, so I'm making up for it now!

I absolutely agree Bakers.I would be very annoyed if I was still at work with young children faced with the probablity of having to take the day off work on booking day so that I could make sure that we got a site that we wanted in the school holidays.
As you say just make the booking continuous throughout the year.0 -
Very foggy here this morning, can hardly see across the road. I am glad we are not going far today.
Hope you have a great day MrRoute. I love reunions. You will all have lots to catch up on.

We had to make that decision a couple of years ago David. With the price of the crossing and everything else going up we decided that we couldn't justify the cost so we have had trips in the UL for the past couple of years and enjoyed it immensley. I loved the 15 years or so that we holidayed in France - many friends made and lovely memories - but I doubt we shall go again. Mr H has now reached the age when he doesn't feel up to towing that far.

As you say just make the booking continuous throughout the year.I thought CT was off too....normal services by Dec 10th?! I wish the CC would stop this antiquated procedure.

As you say just make the booking continuous throughout the year.hence the siggestions in the past that the club move this antiquated ritual to a day (sat/sun) where more working folk would be able to take part on an equal footing with the clubs 'core demograpic'.
8 am on a week day morning is about as worker unfriendly as it could get....
still, if im bored tomorrow, i might get stuck into some serious honeypot bookings....i can always cancel them just before if we dont want to go....

Hope you get it sorted JVB. When the later bookings to March were released I booked a couple of sites and that's all I've done for next year, it's a good way to get York or Bristol. Can't think any further ahead at the moment.
..Really helpfull wardeness has taken details and will alter when they can access website

I'm off back to the hospital this morning to have the clips taken out. Not looking forward to that, a stiff drink and a bullet to bite on might be needed. As if that's not enough I've an appointment with the physiotherapist after that. I think they might
have to scrape me off the ceiling .0 -
Just up in Berwick doing my bit for Queen and country. Its cold up here. Just had a look around the club site here (well from the roads around it) An interesting site as I've never seen a club site right in the middle of a housing estate, it does have good
views though.0 -

We're cooking lunch at the moment using the electric hob in the awning. After lunch there might a short time for a nap before starting work at 12 noon.

Malcolm I admit to slower starts to my work free days these days but you're always cooking lunch as i breakfast . I know you start at noon, but you breakfast too not much earlier than me when I worked. What about a decent brunch sometimes?
