Everyone looks as though they have had a busy, productive but cold day. Very heavy frost first thing and very cold all day here. I had a wonderful day shopping and having lunch with our daughter in Milton Keynes today. I even managed to get some Christmas
presents (plus something for myself
)Glad you had a good day Millie, MK is good for shopping, but end up walking miles it so large., my feet are usually aching at the end. I will have to get there myself to meet up with the boys for Christmas Shopping.

Yes we walked miles Helen. At one point we had to retrace our steps as we had missed a shop we wanted to go into so walked even further than needed. I must admit I feel rather tired today.
Millie, have just spoken to youngest son, he was shopping in central MK yesterday too, he said it was really busy and he didn't manage to get what he wanted either.

So much for a lazy day, decided that as Aldi had their Christmas lights in we'd take a look. Bought some battery led ones for decorating the caravan when we are away next month.

went into town as OH wanted some bits and pieces also some hooks for the new doors.0 -
We're back at the caravan now for a cup of tea and a snack to eat. It's been half an hour since we completed our last delivery and there have been no more orders, so time for a break!
It's cold outside but we noticed the difference as soon as we stepped into the caravan. Nice and warm with the Alde heating.
This morning, we met the site owner to pay the site fees. He usually likes to collect weekly on Sunday. The rest of time we hardly ever see him. He's probably busy with other work on week days.

Arrived at Chapel Lane, Birmingham this afternoon for 3 nights. Only 45 minutes from home, but we decided to come ant way - one reason is that I have an appointment at Birmingham Dental Hospital at 9am tomorrow morning and it's only about 20 minutes from
Chapel Lane but about 90 minutes plus during the rush hour from home across city with the possibility of traffic hold ups through the city.David

Well today I cancelled the Sky contract that I took out yesterday. Should have done more homework first

appears that the new Q boxes that you get are not compatible with the satellite dish on the M/H (LNB bit) its a special LNB for the new boxes, so you can't take the box with you and the sting in the tale it appears that you can't pair it with a Sky+ box either.
Sky are getting very clever with it all but they've just lost a customer and I doubt we will be the only one.Freezing fog has not lifted here all day but when I went just 7 miles down into Perth to collect Mum it was sunny and freezing.

Goldie, I remember swimming in the open air pool at Morecombe too. We had a family holiday there in a guesthouse in the 50s and I seem to remember beauty contests at the pool. I think Woolworths was a great attraction as well. We usually went on walking
holidays so that was a change for us!
My final word on Morecambe. This was taken in 2010.

Looking at CLs or no facility CC sites, and working backwards from Harwich. Have booked Brookcroft near Harwich, now looking at 2 other areas to explore on our way there. Route will basically be down the 74 past Carlisle then over to join the A1 at Scotch
Corner. Past Peterborough we take the A14 then the M11.Thinking Northumberland as first stop. Need EHU and hardstanding, wifi would be a bonus, but not essential. Not near a busy road either.
Will grass be in use on CC sites in April?
Bit stuck on our second stop.
Write your comments here...Try using the cl at Manor Farm, Huntingdon. We use it when en route to Harwich. Easy access from the A14. Really nice owner, hard standing area if needed and free wifi. No toilet block though but good for local shop and main road

Settled in at Southport for 5 nights. Beautiful sunset tonight and great to hear the sounds of hundreds of wild geese flying out to roost.
Might treat myself to another glass of red now that the bottle's been opened. Try not to do a Triky though.

We've just been called out on another delivery for a KFC order. So we're at the KFC in Broadwater now awaiting collection. Well at least we had enough time in the caravan for a cup of tea before receiving this order.

I hope you have a good time WN, Southport is our nearest resort so we often go for day trips.
I bet it will be a little cold on the long pier this week, last time we went the tide was in and that’s a rarity at Southport.

Re replies to my post about the Bay Gateway -
It's off the north Lancaster exit (J34 I think ). As it's a non motorway dual carriageway it also has a wide cycle path. It avoids the congestion in Lancaster, if you're heading to Heysham or Morecambe.
Morecambe used to be a quiet, typical seaside town. I learnt to swim in the open air pool in the 1950s and we used to go down to go on the fair. If you look out to sea it's OK, or if you're a massive fan of Eric Morecambe, you can stand next to his statue.
We go to few gigs at The Platform (old railway station), but that's about all there is to recommend it. There's also a bowling alley, cinema and the usual tatty shops on the front (all seemed to be closed yesterday).
Sorry if I've upset any Morecambe residents.
These half days out are all we get in getting away now. Until the stock is out again (late April/May) there's no nights away.
Thanks, Goldie, that's where I thought it was. We like the walk along the prom from beyond Happy Mount Park to the Eric Morecambe statue, and the front at Heysham too. Good for taking the dog out.

Sounds was the thing that put us off the site, because of the non-stop traffic on the A50. Not one if you are bother by traffic noise.

Why not try Englethwaite Hall for 1st stop, or will that be too close to home. Slapestone Villa at Penrith is another possibility H/S but no wifi. You could then use the A66 to get over to Scotch Corner. Very popular site so would need to book early. Wonder

Lovely sunny day, for a change, but cold with it. The Lakeland Hills and the Dales Fells are covered in snow. Had a couple of very pleasant walks out with OH & Flyte, before watching Australia easily beat N.Z. in the 4 Nation's Cup.
Just listened to Andy Murray winning the World Tour Final. Now definitely the No.1 in the world.

We've already got a Sky+ box with a freeview card, spoke to Sky today got the run around, one minute yes that's fine Sir we can upgrade you I will pass you onto my colleague, so you want to upgrade to a Q box, er no thanks just want to upgrade my package.....oh
but we have a deal on the Q box half price bundle....... yes but I don't want a Q box quite happy with my HD+ box thanks, can I just upgrade my bundle...... I think you get the drift. Long story short yes you can upgrade but you have to take out a new contract
for 12mths and there are no offers on just an upgrade of bundle, so full price and it will cost £25 for a new viewing card. Needless to say we told them no thanks. We will think about it nearer the time as we don't want it until next September. OH has looked
at getting another HD box and pairing them like you do, if we do decide to go down that route, he is looking at other things aswell. Quick question do you need to have a twin LNB for your setup, we are having a dish fitted soon and not sure if we actually

Spent several nights at Englethwaite about 4 years back, nice site, so have seen quite a bit there already. Thinking Northumberland as we had to miss it out on our September trip and would like to visit Alnwick Castle.
About 3-4 hours max for us to get there, so no problem in one hop.

then across on the A66 Wouldn't it be better looking for a site in Co.Durham, or N.Yorkshire, somewhere just off the A1.0 -

With Nellie's post in mind how about Thirsk, we've stayed on it a fair few times when heading for the Hull ferry. It is a grass site but very firm grass, not an expensive site to stay at usually about the same as CL's. Sorry don't know any CL's in Northumberland, Bugs would be good for that.
