A dreich day... drizzle, rain, mist...not a nice day at all. Finished polishing the caravan's furniture, cleaned out the fridge, ordered the new tyres for the van, and then a text telling me I've cancelation at the dentist's, so tooth out tomorrow instead
of waiting till Friday. Hopefully no more pain then.0 -
Just coming too grey outside it seems. Corresponding with nz. All well with family but news from the quake bad . Much shift very soon.
Good to hear all your family ok, Bakers2 . Been looking at the aftermath pictures on the net, not good.
Thanks helenandtrevor. It looks dreadful. So glad doesn't involve my daughter but praying for those hit.
Glad to hear that your family's ok. The big problem now is the number of aftershocks, as these can cause more damaged to properties that are now unstable after the 2

As well as aftershocks they have horrible weather

Mrs M has decided that the house needs re-carpeting. So yesterday off we trot to the carpet shop, me thinking "this is going to be an easy job, just go for something similar to the neutral colours we've got at the moment". How stupid was I? First choose
colour(s), then plain or mottled, then pile, then style, then underlay. Think about the dogs - will it show the dirt, is it stain resistant, does it come in 4m and 5m widths, will it match the tiles on the kitchen floor, what price range (as cheap as I can
get away with thinks I !) and then .... what's the tog rating (what?!!!!). Blimey I could have written the first half of War & Peace 2 by the time we came out of that place ..... and she's still not sure what colour she wants!Write your comments here...Moulesy unless your home has underfloor heating the tog rating of a carpet is irrelevant,so maybe one less thing to worry about..
Would have thought no underfloor heating would need high tog . I've never come across it. Such factors to put into the equation

Write your comments here...I should have worded that better, normally tog rating relates to underfloor heating ,the lower the number the more efficient. As a rule the better the underlay is the less important the tog rating is for insulating purposes.

Having just got up to a rather grey and overcast morning, I've made a pot of tea which is now brewed so just poured the first cup of tea.

Strange sort of day it started with a temperature of 6C and now at 9pm it's 12C, now wonder if it's just East Norfolk or country wide?

Same here OP. We had to switch the heating off.

Very warm start here 15 now, 0935. I might need to change top to short sleeves and cooler material! OH hasn't got out of shorts yet...........sky looked bright for a while, disappearing now . Doing routine bits and wondering what activity to choose once
complete. A good walk sounds very tempting.0 -

Certainly not anywhere near warm enough in my book for aircon might be an idea to try yours out after the repair!

Write your comments here...It was a few days ago in the afternoon when it was sunny and streaming through the front window of our caravan, the temperature went up to 27 degrees. We put the aircon on and got it down to a more comfortable 21 degrees whilst
having lunch! So we did try it, Bakers2 and it did work!0 -

Started off mild and sunny today, same as yesterday. Its gone a bit overcast now but still dry and pleasant enough for a walk. Been checking out the postal rates for Malta the
way its going I would be as cheap to get a flight out there £30 to post a 2.5kg parcel0 -

I've always found I've checked out webpages to get idea of cost but its always been more at the post office . Chat often with those who work in our local one, all reckon internet stuff is confusing!!! Can you take advantage
of BFPO rates??We try so hard to keep to a large letter size no side to exceed 60 cm.
Too late for this Christmas but may do for later, try the book depository, offshoot of Amazon but does free carriage worldwide. I've found them to be great, in fact as I've not shopped for awhile I've got a 10% off voucher . Just waiting for daughter to
confirm a title, still Skype tomorrow so need to pin her down, provided I remember0 -

Thanks for the suggestion of the book depository that will come in handy for the kids. Its been a real eye opener for them of how expensive everything is in Malta. It used to be one of the cheapest places to holiday, however in the last few years its gone
the other way. Living there is proving to be a lot differant to what they were led to believe.0 -
Another day, another Folk gig.
This time Jon Boden at
Kendal Brewery Arts Centre. We're very lucky that there's so much going on only a few miles away. The downside? No night in a hotel and alarm set for 05.00 as normal.

Have a great time. I'm sure you won't really need the alarm, your body clock will sort you out

Friends parents retired out there 20 ish years ago but returned to UK 5 ish years ago, probably got the timing right! Have they committed themselves for a long time? Postage is
a real eye opener too . I also switch my searches to an NZ base and order as a local, don't know if that will help with Malta. Sometimes need to have NZ bank card but not always. Then I tell daughter to order and I pay into her UK bank, she can save it or
withdraw out there from ATM.0 -

Dentist kindly explained that she didn't give me a lot of anaesthetic as she wanted to find out how far down the root the pain went!
Really nice touch of hers, I thought, especially as she soon found out!Supposed to go to Southport but the dentist wants to see me again this week just to see how the roots are settling down. Probably go next week.
Had BT out today as we could make calls but not receive them so just as well we stayed at home as we would have been worried about MIL (not good with mobile).
