What are you all up to today? - part 3

Watching countryfile, another cause for reflection and tears. I have a great uncle named in the Meninm Gate, luckily all the rest on both mum and dad sides came home, several bore scars but no one really understood.
Watched it too.Plenty food for thought. I've no record of any of my grandparent's family being killed during WW1. I think that as some were coalminers so in a protected occupation. I have trouble tracing them as they were Scottish and the records are much
harder to trace. One of OH's great uncles died at Arras, and another at Gallipoli.0 -
Dull, dank day here so I went to work in the caravan. All dusted & hoovered out, and a start made on the furniture polishing. Hopefully I'll complete that tomorrow and then not much left to do for getting away on our next trip.

Just finished another kfc delivery. Quiet again now. We're parked by Broadwater Green at the moment.
Malcolm.........have you done anything outside of work today?
Write your comments here... Yes, since my last post, we went shopping at the Tesco Express in Broadwater and bought some reduced price bread, some apple sauce to go with the roast pork and a six pint carton of milk.
After that, we went back to the caravan and watched the end of Strictly Come Dancing followed by David Attenboroughs Planet Earth 2 all about wildlife survival in the mountains.
Whilst I was watching it, an order came through but I had left the phone in the car, so didn't get the order. Eventually the boss rang my wife's phone before I realised. So I was 15 minutes late getting it. We still got the order collected and delivered within 40 minutes.

So glad your daughter and her family are OK Bakers but like you devasted for those involved. A great friend of mine was in Christchurch just before the last earthquake struck 5 (?) years ago and left the day before to continue her travels. She was very
lucky but so upset about friends there who had been affected. It is grey and wet here today I was hoping we were going to get another lovely day like yesterday.

Mrs M has decided that the house needs re-carpeting. So yesterday off we trot to the carpet shop, me thinking "this is going to be an easy job, just go for something similar to the neutral colours we've got at the moment". How stupid was I? First choose colour(s), then plain or mottled, then pile, then style, then underlay. Think about the dogs - will it show the dirt, is it stain resistant, does it come in 4m and 5m widths, will it match the tiles on the kitchen floor, what price range (as cheap as I can get away with thinks I !) and then .... what's the tog rating (what?!!!!). Blimey I could have written the first half of War & Peace 2 by the time we came out of that place ..... and she's still not sure what colour she wants!

Unless of course she chooses something you really do not like.

Our carpet came with the caravan, so thankfully no need for us!

I've just got back after banking the weekends earnings. When I was in the bank, there was a notice to say that the Goring Branch is closing in February 2017!

Believe me, I'd like nothing more than that. But apparently, on this, she values my opinion (so best make the most of a rare event!)

Malcolm I thought I read you were now paid into the bank directly so you didn't have to go daily? If I was wrong you'll need it that way very soon, you don't want any more mileage . Also means you have written proof of income 'wages' and that you are

Choosing anything new is a minefield. Have you seen the choice for toilet paper lately??? And that should be a fairly simple thing .
I wish you patience and good humour. As already said it'll be painting next!
Your opinion is always valued, but on a big purchase its always good to be able to say ' you agreed' ............
Peace in your time!

Cleaned the oven . Cooked fantastic yorkshires yesterday (thanks jumbo ask the ex chef a thread) but slightly too much oil in the tray so spilled setting smoke alarming off on opening oven door! So now ready for Christmas cooking. Surplus frozen . Sun coming out and about to polish my walking boots, so will do so in the conservatory and enjoy the sun. After lunch visit to mum. Must do something with my CV and some job hunting when I get the time
Edit No drain on the tax payer have all my NI for full pension. Just the two changes in my retirement date
