Lovely morning here today, so decided to leave the housework and go into the garden. With 5 Silver Birch in the bottom corner of the garden its a lot of leaf raking to keep the grass clear, OH used the garden vacuum to get around the plants while I did the
grass. Weather not as cold as I thought it was going to be, maybe that'll come later. Went dull mid afternoon but no sign yet of the snow or rain, fingers crossed.0 -
Very dry day here, no sign of frost, no wind. Decided to fetch home some fallen wood from our lovely local wood as part of our dog walk today. Tinder dry, added it to our collection done throughout the Summer, which is keeping us warm on this cold nights
via stove. Love foraging, find all sorts of nice things to make into decorations and add colour and scent to the house!

No, the snow has not appeared here either, thankfully, nor rain, but it's very damp in the air so the ground is wet.
OH has just finished sewing the famous curtains, so will take them to DD either on Saturday, or Thursday as she works from home that day. They are a cotton fabric, so will need a good iron and hung up immediately.
Next sewing project is a fabric advent calendar for the GChildren that we bought a panel for while in Norfolk in September. Just about enough time to sew it before December 1st.
OH has also had me dig out (the cupboard is in "my room" which she refuses to go in
) a pile of Christmas table mats which
she made a lot of a few years back, to sell, as she wants to give a dozen to DD as they are hosting the family Christmas this year.There are various colours, red, dark blue, dark green, all with gold stars, so depending on the colour DD wants, she may have to make a few more.
Going to be a busy month!!

Went to Moreton in Marsh this morning for the (much reduced) market. So that's the Christmas cards sorted
Drove on to Stowe in the Wold and had a wander round.....so much Christmas stuff already!
Nearly bought a new flask to replace my old one, which seems to lose its temperature too easily. Can anyone recommend a good one at about half litre capacity?
Then on to Chipping Campden. Lovely.
It's been cold but has been dry all day......so much for the weather forecast that said rain in the afternoon......wrong again!

We have a stainless steel Thermos Ian, but have never found one that keeps small amounts piping hot. Even heating flask with boiling water prior to use doesn't help that much, so we stick to the one litre and drink up when we get home.
(you don't need one in our MH by the way, we brew fresh when we pull up!

I think you get what you pay for with thermos flasks, the small ones never seem to hold their heat. We always take when one when setting off in the van, filled with boiling water, usually get two hot drinks plus a spot more. Ours is a big Aladdin one Ian,
stainless steel outside with the usual glass liner. OH uses small all metal ones when he goes fishing, they just about last the session.0 -
We had a flask of tea and sandwiches in the car as it was a quiet afternoon. Just one order. Then we got a second order a couple of hours later. Then another gap and now a Macdonalds order.
In between deliveries, we parked the car in the Liverpool Gardens car park and did some High Street shopping. I had £7.60 to spend on my Boots Advantage card, so we bought some toothpaste with it which used up £5 so £2.60 still available to spend. We also
had £20 in Tesco vouchers and spent £15 of that at the town centre Tesco Express. Then we went to TK Maxx where I bought a new wallet.0 -
Tomorrow we're off to Derbyshire to get the aircon fixed. That means three days off work, hurrah!

Today we have had a final boiler service before a new one is installed. We have been to Clarks Village (which was heaving) I bought a new purse (I'm turning into Malcolm!
)
I've also wrestled with the second half of a pumpkin, roasted the contents and will put it in the freezer later....and now for some r&r....0 -

Experts say Asda smartprice toothpaste at 25p is as good as the expensive ones, its the toothbrush that matters. £2.50 a tube is ridiculous.

It's started raining here in the Worthing town centre. We ran out of tea in the flask, so I've just quenched my thirst with a diet coke from Macdonalds. I decided that a 99 pence contactless payment won't break the bank!

We're in the Worthing town centre at the moment, awaiting collection of a KFC order for delivery to an address in Lancing. The town centre KFC is always slow so it gives me time to catch up with my posting on here.

Quite a hard frost over night but it soon disappeared off the car. Morning spent shopping in Penrith before luch in the van. Then a drive down to Patterdale and then a walk round Glenridding to view the repairs to the damage done during last December's floods.
This should be our last night out before we head home tomorrow, provided we don't get snowed in, that is. Have to get back by Thursday as I've a dental appointment on Friday morning as I've been suffering from toothache since Saturday and must get it sorted

Thanks for the flask comments. The one I have is a Thermos, black plastic with a glass inner, but not great at holding temperature.
The ones I was looking at were stainless steel and difficult to see how they were actually insulated.
The best ones I have seen are made by this
company but I am not sure if they are still imported to the UK. John Lewis used to sell them. Stanley Flasks are pretty robust. Stainless steel flasks consist of an inner and outer container with the vacuum made when the air is extracted. Whilst some people
think that stainless steel flasks are indistructable they do have an achilles heel in the same way that glass ones do. If dropped the seal around the neck bursts and lets in air so nothing to keep the contents hot. An easy way of telling if this has happened
is if the outside of the flask gets hot once filled with hot water. Glass ones are pretty effective and generally as cheap as chips but have to be treated carefully.David

TG, yesterday was nice and sunnt & today turned out not too bad but cold. However the forecast is for rain and snowover the next few hours so I think you did right heading home. We thought of having a few more days away but toothache has decided it for
