Actually managed to keep my mouth open for 45 minutes today in the company of a female. Mind you she is the dentist!!
More root canal treatment to come in a few weeks time. Always something to look forward to. So, making a Rice Pudding for tea, with bits of stem ginger in and plump apricots. Comforting.

Lovely bright sunny day here on the East coast. Had to do a few chores including taking the computer into be repaired, conflict between Windows 10, Edge and AVG anti virus. Computer cured. Went up to golf club to see if Dusky Warbler was still around.
Shopping and gardening this afternoon. Now lit the log burner so ready for a cosy evening.0 -
Routine maintenance AM.Then lifting boats out onto the 'hard' for their winter lay-up & scrub off .Lovely sunny & warm day,no breeze..

I have sympathy with wherenext....I still can't eat properly after my locked jaw episode, getting better but have to be careful, obviously some muscle damge along my jaw. Will be speaking to the dentist about it soon, if I go to the GP he'll tell me to ask the dentist. Yearly blood tests today, how do they get that much out of you!? Other than that, not a lot. Just finished admiring the evening sun and mists rising.

We thought we would drive over to the Frosts Garden Centre at Woburn Sands today for a quiet cup of coffee. No one told us it was a Baker Day (inset day). Place abolutely crowded especially with kids, most of whom seemed to be dressed in Halloween costumes, much less friegtening in the sunshine!!! I have always considered this to be the best of the many garden centres we have visited in the UK but it was interesting to note how much space, at this time of year, they devote to all things Christmas. They must make a fortune. Then I suppose they are unlikely to be selling much garden related items between now and Christmas.

It's been a gorgeous day up here in the Pennines. The temperature reached a balmy 19C and the leaves on the trees are a beautiful green, yellow, brown, red and orange. It could be last warm day for sometime however the forecast is for frost.

My dentist has threatened me with a full plate, top and bottom, next time I go to him. OK so my teeth are not great but guess who I have NOT visited for the past 18 months.
I am quite happy grinding away on the stumps that are left than having a new set of dentures, where the raspberry pips get underneath and cause grief. I well remenber my old man having those problems in the 50's 60's.

Did a spot of gardening today.......well, garden clearance really. Fllled 8 bags with prunings, to take to the tip later in the week (no collection of garden waste with our useless council).
Really warm work.......like a pleasant spring day.

Spent a very warm day in London today picking up, amongst others, some international geocaches. When we checked our gps we had walked 12 miles, no wonder my feet ache. Tomorrow we are caching around Greenwich, hopefully we won't be walking as far but I'm
not going to hold my breath!0 -
Dull grey morning, but dry. Packed up and away before 10:00 with a gentle tow along the A75 out of Scotland and on to Englethwaite Hall. Sun came out en route and the colours of the trees were supurb. Thin mist came over during the afternoon and suddenly
it was dark. Not many occupied vans on the site so really quiet. Can't remember the last time we've not heard fireworks going off at this time of the year.0 -

Write your comments here...lucky to get that lot done on a decent day, normally pouring down when there are big jobs to do with the boats, nothing worse! Reward yourself with a glass of the invertriky malt!

Scrubbing off is the one job that I don't miss. Mooring maintainencer was the other one. Cold, wet, mucky and back-breaking.

Lovely weather here on Northbrook Farm this morning. We've just got up and are having our first cup of tea. Our last day here before we go to Littlehampton tomorrow.
Yesterday evening, as we were doing our deliveries, we saw lots of people walking about dressed in Halloween costumes. Some of them were quite entertaining!
It went quiet after 8.30 yesterday evening so we had time to do some shopping at the Tesco Extra next to the club site.

A bit of a dull start significant temprature drop on the East Coast. The predicted wintery blast due over the next few days may well bring in a few more rare birds, every cloud etc.. Off to wash the caravan shortly and run a few other chores. BTW pinch,
punch first of the month etc etc0 -
Not what I'm doing today - but what we did at the weekend.
On Saturday we drove down to Aust (near Bristol) for a 70th Birthday Party. I knew there would be delays and roadworks, but expected to get a bit farther from home before we hit them (15 minutes). The Lancaster to Heysham Link Road opened yesterday but there are still massive queues approaching junction 34. Hopefully not for much longer. After that it was normal endless 50 mph stretches for 5 hours.
But it was worth it. We met with friends we hadn't met for a couple of years and talked as if it was only yesterday. We left the party early at midnight as we had to be up early to get back home for another party. We didn't fancy the cardboard box of cardboard breakfast food at the Travel Lodge so stopped off at Gloucester service for a full breakfast. HIghly recommended. And the caravan parking looked good.
We detoured off the motorway round Lancaster and got home just in time to change into posh clothes again for a 70th Birthday Afternoon Tea Party.
By the end I was too full of cake and Fizz to do anything constructive.
Many thanks to our son (assisted by grandsons) for coping without us. Very long days for them.

short break in the activities here at Centre Parcs....first time here, very impressed with the organisation, layout, customer focus, variety of activities etc....
whole site (far larger that i expected) is car free other than the brief arrival/departure windows, so great for bikes kids....kids on bikes
been swimming this morning including various rapids and slides, lazy river etc....site officially 'full' but seems to be plenty of room..
the lodges/apartments are really quite upmarket, again far better than i expected...pehaps i have memories of my own childhood 'holiday accommodation'....
off for another quick stroll....

Can't remember the last time we've not heard fireworks going off at this time of the year.
Funnily enough, Nellie, Mrs.WN and myself were saying exactly the same thing this morning. Maybe it's because younger kids are having a harder time getting their hands on them or else money is tight. Not complaining as they're not my favourite things. (fireworks
not kids, although.....)0 -
Cleaned the oven in the caravan today as I forgot to do it on the recent cleaning spree, then tried to drain the van down but it wouldn't no matter what we tried. Dealers have already replaced the drainage valve a couple of years ago. Fair play to them they
have come up with a new solution which hopefully will work. Just have to arrange to take it in now. We'll probably want to go away in it the week after!Trying to get quotes for the caravan insurance. May have to move it from the CC this year.

of first world war verey lights . Its Hubby's birthday, only firework I need so we celebrate that. Its a milestone one this year. Government starts to pay him0
