What are you all up to today? - part 3

I just can't imagine dinner2go being able to survive if all their drivers were paid minimum wage, plus holiday pay, sick pay and all the other rights that employees have. Where would the money come from? Some of our customers
are already complaining of the cost of delivery fees. I would love to be earning £7.25 an hour but the reality is that companies in this business, can't afford to pay it. So any such ruling could mean that I would lose my job.Well, good riddance to them I say.
If they cannot run a business without paying slave wages, they deserve to go out of business.
Trouble is, those sleaze-bags have a habit of resurfacing, in a different guise......

Write your comments here...I've never yet been prescribed Gliclazide. Why would that be?
Gliclazide does a different job to Metformin, perhaps your Doctor doesn't think you need it at the moment? If you are having regular long term blood tests and discussions with your Diabetic Nurse it might be something that is added at a later stage depending
on the progression. I assume you have visited the
Diabetes UK website which contains lots of useful imformation?David

It is ever the case that some people want to be employed and enjoy the benefits whilst others have a personal preference to be self employed and work as hard, long or whenever they wish. Flexibility should be the key word here.
Write your comments here...Yes but Ian's point is that if you are working for one company and they are controlling what you do, it can be regarded by HMRC that you are employed by them.

Arrived home at just gone midday after a fantastic few days in South East Essex. Van back in storage, car unloaded, now sat in garden in the sunshine
Meant to ask, have you managed to get the van floor sorted yet?
All the parts are in Nell, just waiting for workshop space, apparently it will be in for 3 days.
Hope they manage to get it done shortly and you can get away to Barleywood as planned.

Tonight I have been making marmelade.
I am using a tin of prepared stuff from Lakeland, bought on a buy one get the second half price, so a good deal, and the marmelade is delicious!
Usually we have Lidl marmelade, but they are out of stock of it here right now, so OH set me to making some.

Spent a very pleasant morning meeting up with Helen & Trevor ( not forgetting Bodie!) for coffee and then a walk across the dunes to the lost church. It was good to meet you and didn't the dogs get on well together?
Enjoy the rest of your stay in Cornwall and hope we'll be able to meet up again before too long.
Glad you all had a good time on your walk. Perhaps on one of next year's trips we'll meet up with you all again somewhere.

Yes, Ian is correct on that, if HMRC had all the facts they would regard you as employed.

Lovely to meet up and it was good that the dogs got on well. We took Bodie on the beach afterwards, still didn't wear him out though.

We had a springer spaniel like that. We would come back from a long walk exhausted and she was still ready for more. Glad
you all had a good day. We're on our 4th Springer, MillieH and they have been all the same. Always ready for a walk, however much we've been out. I remember with Strider, our 1st, that we did the 3 peaks walk, been out for about 10 hrs (those were the days!), drove back to the
van and he wanted to go out again!!0 -
Restocking day, so after washing our dirty laundry, we drove into Stranraer. Lidl then Morrisons, lunch in car and a good walk along the quayside. Nice and sunny this afternoon so all washing dried, ironed and away before dinner this evening.

Just playing on here for the last half hour before bedi byes ( thats one for the older cricket fans
) breathing in the delicate aroma of the fabric conditioner on my newly ironed clothing ! Then its an early night to build
myself up for the long sleep tomorrow !!!0 -

You iron things?........while away in the caravan?........that is above the call of duty! We are cultivating the "crumpled look", both at home and while away in the van.
At home, with judicious use of the dryer and hanging things up to finish drying, I cannot remember the last time OH felt the need to iron anything. Maybe if it was a special occasion.....like a wedding or similar.

Write your comments here...We don't have an iron or ironing board either. There's not enough room in a caravan to have everything that you would normally have in a house.

Just got the kettle on for a cup of tea. It's just getting light outside but it looks like it's going to be a grey day.

Quick catch up on here whilst I have sandwich lunch in the sunny conservatory . Started with haircuts, hairdresser hadn't put us in the diary for yesterday - again . Lucky she wasn't busy first thing. Leads a very chaotic life but good a hair cutting!
Not the first time, seriously thinking about changing but I have hair that proves challenging. Took several attempts and years to find this one, then shop closed. She started on her own a couple of years ago, gone haywire in last few months lifestyle wise
.Doing accounts, it gets complicated with several current accounts, only way to earn decent interest these days and that's dropping - thank you Santander . So have to confirm all rotating payments, account requirements, have happened etc and remove surplus
caused by interest, it earns nothing over the various limits! to somewhere it earns a little . Almost a fulltime job in its own right!!!Just learned mother has company today and tomorrow so 'free' time . Just have to choose which of the list jobs I fancy, gardening looking good option at mo.
Enjoy your weekend folks, however you spend it

It's been a quiet afternoon so far. No orders during the first two hours.

Blue sky's, bright sunshine and 16C in East Norfolk. Just got in from a seven mile walk. Mrs One and a couple of her cubs spruced up the War Memorial and replanted the flower beds. Will shortly be off to look after the grand twins
You and Mrs Oneputt put a lot back into your local community, well done.
Have a great afternoon with the grandtwins. Don't let them wear you out . Remind me how old they ate now.

Surely you could find space for an iron if you wanted and as you use club sites dont they have ironing boards. OH takes a full size domestic iron and either uses the table or if therer is a proper ironing board at the facilities block she uses that.
We take a travel iron away with us, I bought (many years ago) a small table top ironing board from Ikea (they still do them) I think I paid something like £5 for it. It has a hanging hook on it and lives in the wardrobe of the van. I don't iron everything
while away but I do some things, like OH shirts and I don't like my crops to be all creased.0 -

Been doing the same myself after reading some of the posts on here a few months ago, you got me inspired to do do better. So now have 2 new banks accounts in my name and we have changed over from the Flex to Flexplus account with our Nationwide all
working out well at the moment but as you say keeping track of everything to start with is a job in itself.Just finished a 5 hours stint in the garden, boy do I ache, still its looking good and tidy once again and I need to lose weight again so its a win win. Been a lovely day here so far but getting a bit chilly now the sun has gone.
