A rather grey start to the morning here in Worthing today. We're now settled back in after our two days away in Chipping Sodbury.
We drove straight from Worthing using the A27 and then A23, M23 route to join the M25. We had a short stopover for a lunch break at Cobham Services before joung the M4 westbound. We then had another stop at Chieveley Services for a short tea break before re-entering the M4. We got off at Junction 18 and arrived at Chipping Sodbury Caravans at 15:30. As they were too busy to do anything we booked it in for 22nd September. Then we looked on the app for a site for the night. Bristol was the nearest one but was fully booked, so we settled for Cheddar.
Next morning it was back on the motorway again for the second night stopover at Slinfold, Horsham before returning to our seasonal pitch in Worthing.

Good to hear your news Malcolm, sorry you had a bit of a wasted journey to Chipping Sodbury with the van, but at least you had a change of scenery and a break.
It's really warm and humid here today, been shopping, the cupboards were looking empty, bought a new non stick wok, so healthy stir fries will now be on the menu.
Was going to clean the inside of the car, just can't seem to find the energy, It's just a bit too warm at the moment.

It's all go here - preparations well in hand for Westmorland Show tomorrow'
Three non in milk cows are just about to leave (we are lucky - it's only 20 minutes away), along with feed and associated stuff. The other 4 cows will go down tonight after milking and my son and grandson will stay with them overnight ready for final grooming and judging tomorrow.
My husband will follow on after morning milking.
I hope I've got all the paperwork sorted, all I have to do now is pack up food for everyone (plus passing visitors).
We usually plan to go away after the show, but the weather hasn't ben kind and we still have about 100 acres of third cut silage to get.

cont:
We've been showing at the Westmorland Show since my husband's Great Great Grandfather moved here in 1875. I've no photos from the early years (just certificates). This one is from 1926
And this one from last year.
Tomorrow there will be three generations showing - generations four, five and six.

Today was the day that I dread most of all each year......conservatory cleaning day
There just isn't an easy way to do it.......
We get our window cleaner to do ours, costs £25 each time but money well spent.
If that includes the roof it is indeed a bargain.

Write your comments here...Thanks, H&T. It's been very warm here too. We put our picnic table outside the awning as it was too hot to sit and eat inside, plus our relaxers and coffee table. So our awning is looking a little empty!
After the dull start the sun came out and it has been bright and sunny ever since.

Spent a splendiferous day visiting Amboise taking in the Chateau where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last years. Excellent place as IBM have replicated many of his drawings/inventions into working models. All shown in a pleasing environment in beautiful gardens.
Doesn't seem fair giving one man so much talent!
Well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area. We keep revisiting every 5 years or so and never tire. The sun helps

Car and van pretty much ready for the off tomorrow. Longish drive to our first site, so hope to get away by 9am.
Weather this week looks to be good.
Where are you haeding for this time Kjell?
We went first to High Onn, where there is no CC wifi, but are now back in civilisation at The Firs near Belper.
High Onn is a lovely, peaceful site, but lots of narrow lanes to get there. OK going, but leaving today we met 3 tractors+ trailers. Luckily they are good at reversing!!
Weather has been good, so plenty of cooking and eating outside. Spent some time at Travelworld near Telford looking at MHs.
Turned out they did not have the one we wanted to see in stock after all, a bit disappointing. Prices are up 7%+ due quite a bit to the exchange rate, so we are having to re-think things.
Not much in the way of a deal to be done as Hymers are apparently selling like hotcakes and they cannot get enough stock. 6-8 months to order anything. An "incentive" of only £1500 on a £70k MH is not a lot! Plus the trade-in price they offered for our
van was somewhat derisory IMO.Going to see if we can look at some Dethleffs tomorrow, plus other makes later in the trip.
After here, we head to the east coast, then out to Norfolk, up to York and Barnard Castle, and a final few days at Garlieston.

Now I know most of you (it seems) think Facebook is the work of the devil, but if you want to take a chance with all things you hold dear, click on the link below to see what we did yesterday. You won't even have to divulge your great aunt's maiden name
or inside leg measurement. I think.I'm sorry if it turns out you have to have an account.

We went for a walk along Perranporth beach with our dog fantastic surf nobody was allowed to go swimming as the surf was up to 6ft. Then stopped in The Watering Hole Pub on the beach great day out.
Perranporth beach is great for dogs, isn't it, Brian. In fact that whole stretch of the North Cornish coast has many dog friendly beaches including Porth Joke, Crantock, Holy well and Fistral.
Did you venture up on to Penhale Dunes behind the beach? Mikes and miles of open space for dogs to run around off lead - fabulous!
